Maverick just went haywire!

Wow! Maybe ford should start hearing what is happening when Mavericks are acting up realtime....

Pulled out of the driveway and went about a block and the truck started dinging and the dash display started to go haywire.

The first warning was "passenger sensor blocked". I've seen this before because I keep a lot of stuff in the passenger seat and it's no big deal to me. Then the fun began.

Then I got the message about the pre-collision assist not available (which I've seen before when there is moisture on the windshield). Then the warnings on the dash started popping up quicker than I could clear them. I got the service engine soon, followed by power train malfunction and then it said that the transmission was in low and the "D" on the shift knob was flashing. I pulled over and the parking brake engaged before I even stopped (with a warning on the dash informing me of this). I immediately shut the truck off, pulled the key, and opened the door to shut it down completely.

When I restarted the truck, all of the warnings started marching across the display. Since I was only two blocks from home, I decided to get it back to my driveway and hook up the OBDII reader when it gets light out.

The thing that really bothered me was that when I drove the two blocks to get home, I had to ride the brakes the whole way. If I took my foot off the brakes pedal, the truck would accelerate. Got it home and I'm going to get the OBDII codes when it gets light out.

I will follow up as more information becomes available. I will call my dealership when they open at 9:00.

Tell them to bring a truck so they can get your Maverick back to the dealer. Also you need a loaner until the truck is fixed!

Dealer kept my vehicle over the weekend and put 100 miles on it to test and couldn't reproduce the issue. Dealer reached out to Ford who basically had no answer other than that some plugged in wireless devices might interfere with the computer. I have a "MA1 Wireless Car Adapter For Android Auto" plugged into the USB port. Dealer didn't know what the device was and is therefore content with that answer. Do I believe that a small bluetooth device can cause my entire car to freak out, break down and display half a dozen incoherent errors? No. Heck if wifi signals could cause a Maverick to fall apart Ford should be freaking out rather than shrugging it off.

Like with most things these days apparently you have to be your own advocate. I'm going to buy an ODB scanning device so when this happens again, and they can't look at it right away, and all the codes inevitably disappear I can at least document all the codes (whether or not I know what they mean). Apparently I have to hand hold Ford's inability to capture catastrophic software failures in their cars... for my own safety.

Dealers can pull up fault codes remotely? Did not know that.

They can pull up pretty much everything you do if it has telemetry data attached to it they have it.

Exactly what happened to me a month or so ago. A week before I had some recalls done in the driveway. They towed it to the shop and did another recall. Been fine since.

Happened the second time on I80 at 80 mph passing a truck. Limped to an exit and managed to get it going. Just agreed to trade it for a Ridgeline. Can't have a truck that you can't trust. Service guys ACT like they never heard of this and have no solution. Ford had left me down and I'm moving on

100% agree with this. I've seen way too many posts of the truck dying in the middle of the freeway, often with the poster saying "really scary," as they should be. Try to get from the middle land of a 5 lane busy freeway to the shoulder without getting hit, and hot having power, is a dangerous situation. Definitely worthy of reporting to the NHTSA.

Yesterday I experienced the same issue, except I got in the truck and drove a friend an hour away. After dropping him off and turning around I was going 50mph when a majority of what you expressed occured. It said I was in the wrong gear, it gave pre-collision warnings, it flashed a half dozen different error messages and I lost acceleration power entirely. I was thankfully able to pull over at an off ramp but the errors remained. Thankfully the hybrid's electric motor allowed me to limp at 5mph a quarter mile away to a gas station where I could safely wait for a tow. Because Ford's car service would tow my car but not give me a ride I used AAA to get towed an hour away back home to the dealer.

Regardless of the disaster of the situation they didn't have an open appointment for me for 2 days. So they won't look at it until tomorrow.

I did have the Ford mobile service come out 2 weeks ago to do the software recall updates.

Other than you being near home when it happened our stories align almost down to the day and hour.

Up until yesterday I would rave about my Maverick despite some hiccups. I can shrug off a variety of hardware recalls but killing my power mid-drive and leaving me stranded with incoherent software problems is NOT ok.

I had the exact same situation today. I went to Cincinnati, started to come home to the Dayton area and all hell broke loose.

I have a '23 hybrid Lariat with 26,000 miles. A few times I'd have dash warnings come on when driving through rainy conditions for an extended time (more than 30 minutes). Hill start, traction control, ABS, etc. Weather dries up and the notifications disappeared.

This in no way affected driveability.

The lights came back on a few weeks ago during wet weather and although everything has been clear an dry for weeks the warnings remain.

I'm hesitant to take it to the dealer and have my truck disabled by a software update!

Or enabled... last Software update added free wireless Android and Apple CarPlay to my 2022XL. Was a lot confusing at first but have figured how to manage my phones tirelessly.
