Maybe our helpful dealership members can chime in on this question?
@fordvideoguy or @KevCuRaoi
One extra thought. Does anyone have a list of VINs that have needed this harness replaced?

If members here can compile one, I can check on build dates. That might clue us in on what vehicles are affected.

I try to be helpful, thanks for including me with the famous Tim!

I don't think that the part availability affects when a recall is issued.... It isn't uncommon for recalls to be announced long before parts are available. So that part isn't true.

My suspicion is that they are trying to determine the exact range of vehicles that should be included in any TSB for FSA (i.e. recall). When they do publish TSBs & FSAs to dealers, they are VIN specific. They only show up on VINs that are eligible (based on build date).

I checked on my own hybrid Maverick (April 2nd build date) and there are no related TSBs. Only 2 TSBs total, one for "seat pan looseness" and one for exterior doors. I also just checked all Maverick TSBs and there are none for this concern.

There is info on the Technical Assistance Center ("Tech Hotline") about the issue. So if you has a dealer who hasn't heard of the issue, or is just testing the battery, you can direct them to check that out. The Ford forum for technicians and warranty also has info on this issue.

There is no way that I know if to look up information on a yet-to-be-announced recall. That part of the FB post makes no sense to me.

I suspect that the poster has just mixed up the terminology. I think that the someone at the dealership probably showed them communication from the Tech Hotline. We can access transcripts of successful contacts from other dealerships, and see what the issue was, and what fixed it. This info can be looked up on any Maverick VIN, so that doesn't specify which vehicles are involved.

I do work with warranty claims. Right now, there is no way (that I can think of) where a service department could look up your VIN and see if you are likely to have trouble with this wire harness. I do think that there will be a TSB in the future that will address this, and then we will be able to look this up.

My own hybrid Maverick was built in early April. I am @ 1800 miles and no problems.

Hope this helps some. If I do see anything about this issue where there is a range of vehicles identified, I will post here to let everyone know!
"There is info on the Technical Assistance Center ("Tech Hotline") about the issue" ... can you share this?

No, this is not something I can share. It is internal to Ford and dealerships...probably nothing that I should publish publicly (and it is near impossible to copy and paste or print it out....I think they make the formatting crazy on purpose!)

There are 6-10 different "conversations" between service departments and Technical Assistance Center techs/engineers. They go back and forth describing the diagnosis and repair.

One hybrid TAC team member states that Ford engineers are aware of the issue.

I am sure they are working on something to determine how many of these cables are possible faulty. I hope there will be a TSB soon (because I also want to know if I need to worry about my Maverick!)

Understand ... are the fixes discussed in the thread below generally tracking what's been discussed as the main suspect causes/ fixes for the failures?

This is a good idea. I'd be interested to see this as well

Having a hybrid Mav with 1,200 miles on it, I too am concerned about a possible breakdown. Taking the Mav on vacation tomorrow. As this is my first hybrid vehicle- for clarity purposes, if I do encounter a loss of power, do I jump the hybrid battery underneath the back seat?
Sorry for what might seem like a silly question.....
Several 100 volts of DC electricity
No o_O

My Hybrid was built on November 29. 2021 and delivered on December 13th.

I'm guessing your Hybrid Maverick was built in September and sat until OKTB was issued late November. I think that was the 27th of November.

I have not experienced this "No Start" issue and I just completed a 2800 mile 12 day vacation again with no issues.
My Hybrid built November 30th delivered Dec 15th. No problems in 4000+ miles.

Yes.
"Found that Tab/ Terminal end (of connector) C1617E-1 was loose and not properly soldered to the 12v battery cable "

That is the usual issue described in the contacts. Their advice to to repair the eyelet if possible. If not replace harness 14300 (which will be a hard to get part).

There will probably be a TSB describing a repair to the eyelet connector at some point.

Wow that's a little pricey. But at least a deal at $584. Unbelievable, for a battery cable. Shame on you Ford.

Cheers.
That's because they know it's broke and they can make money on it. Though they should not be charging anyone to fix their screwup.

My battery was 0 vdc when I checked it after it died. You can charge it here, but it will not jump-start the truck from here. You must do that under the hood.

I figured out how to jump my truck today. You connect the positive to the red-covered lead in the engine compartment under the fuse box and the ground pin up and to the right above the driver's side tire (depicted in the image below).

Ford Maverick Hybrid battery went dead jumplocationsunderhood

I used a 12vdc jump box and it started right up. This does not charge the battery - only allows the electronics to come on and your truck to start and run. Once I shut mine off, it died again. There apparently is a cable connection issue where the positive battery cable goes into the fuse box that is messing up the connection from the 12v battery.

That's what I thought at first, then tried to look up the cable again later. It seems 14290 is the number for the positive wiring harness on a number of Ford vehicles, defined by the rest of part number for specific vehicles. All about the same price :(.

I'm guessing, but what I see happening is a repair of the existing harness on our trucks will be approved by engineering, especially since the area is accessible. Maybe a recall of affected/potentially affected units. I'm good with a proper repair instead of disturbing the rest of the harness.

Cheers.

My Maverick XLT came in March. I do alot of long distance driving for work so i am currently up to 7200 miles. Just this afternoon I go and get ready for one of my service calls and my key will not open the truck. Manually open the driver side door, put my key in the ignition and..........the vehicle will not start. I call Ford Roadside and within 30mins I get the rep to jump my truck. Now, this stuff shouldn't be happening so soon. Just wondering has anyone had this or any type of issue w/ the truck not starting?
Same thing happened last night to my son's Hybrid XL. It was just towed to the dealersip!
