  1. Homemade Bed Racks, Front & Rear

Glad you like it. Despite looking small, the 1” square tube is very strong and can easily support any reasonable load, like ladders or lumber or kayaks.

  3. Maverick Hybrid Died on Freeway this Morning - Completely Unanticipated

An obviously very dangerous situation as you described it. Even if there had been no traffic, stalling on a freeway is inherently hazardous. This exactly the type of situation that should be reported to the NHTSA. Please do so, as it lights a fire under Ford's rear to get something done. The...
  4. Maverick just went haywire!

100% agree with this. I've seen way too many posts of the truck dying in the middle of the freeway, often with the poster saying "really scary," as they should be. Try to get from the middle land of a 5 lane busy freeway to the shoulder without getting hit, and hot having power, is a dangerous...
  5. “Free” DIY tie down options for tailgate assist and XL sportfish tie downs

Get an 8m x 1.25 tap at the hardware store and carefully clean out all of them. Either the spray in people aren’t very careful, or the original tap job left debris inside. Every one of mine benefited from a re-tapping.
  6. Diminished value settlement

That’s helpful. In our case we may have been successful because the other driver was 100% at fault.
  7. Diminished value settlement

I may be wrong, but I believe your agent was less than honest with you. We were told that diminished value claims can be made in all 50 states. More than willing to be educated differently if that's not so.
  8. Diminished value settlement

We also were unaware of diminished value claims until a friend told us after our Honda CRV, brand new, was in an accident. We hired an appraiser who did a thorough report to show that the post accident car was worth $5700 less on the used market than an undamaged one. After submitting the claim...
  9. Hiding the fire extinguisher in plain sight

I’ve watched quite a few also. Thank you for your input.

  11. Good place for fire extinguisher?

The small dry chemical extinguishers many owners are opting for have a low price but a couple of disadvantages; very messy and they expire after a few years. I’ve opted for the Element E50 in our cars. Super easy to use and store in a variety of locations, non-toxic, no mess, no expiration or...
  12. Good place for fire extinguisher?

I believe the allowable storage temperature is appropriate for in a house, but not for in a car in the sun. Check the label.
  13. Any Fire Extinguishers Fit in the Water Bottle Door Slots?

I like the Element E50 extinguisher and keep it tucked into the little cubby between the rear seat and the door, snugged in with a pair of leather gloves that could be very handy if actually fighting a fire. Clean, never expires, non-toxic and as easy to store as a road flare.
  14. Hiding the fire extinguisher in plain sight

Nicely done. However, personally I went with an Element E50 extinguisher. Clean, no mess, non-toxic, easy to use, never expires, lasts 50 seconds and can be mounted or stored in a variety of locations. I chose to simply put it in the existing slot between the rear seat and the door, held in by...
  15. DIY Bed / Ladder Rack

That’s a great DIY way to build a rack. Not having or needing a tonneau cover, I made my rack in a way that utilizes the existing tie down points in the bed. It could easily be extended into a full over the cab ladder rack If one needed that. My build does not compromise the ability to put 4x8...
  16. My Brunk, my Brunk, my Lovely Maverick Trunk (customized bed toolbox)

Clever and affordable project. For those who prefer a tonneau cover, this box seems much more secure if one wanted to put tools in it. Personally I’d have probably mounted it on the other side, just to balance the load opposite the driver. Looks great. Well done.
  17. Hybrid Maverick: Speed vs Fuel Economy -- My Recorded Data & Chart

Definitely not worth spending any extra money for. Rolling resistance comes from the tire design and inflation pressure. Fill it with helium or nitrogen or oxygen or hydrogen to the same pressure and the car won’t know the difference between that and good old “air.”
  18. Homemade Bed Racks, Front & Rear

Thanks. Square tube works great for the rear rack because of the location of the two tie downs. A fabricator with a tube bender would likely make the forward rack out of round tube, all in one piece.
