I got quotes from several insurance companies before taking delivery. At the time there was quite a discrepancy or difference. I went with the least expensive. 6 months later they raised the price at renewal. So I again got different quotes. Ended up saving more than my original premium. Also switch my UTV insurance over as well and saved on that as well.

I highly suggest contacting an insurance agency that uses multiple insurance companies. For example if they use 10 insurance companies that's 10 calls you don't have to make. Best of luck, hope you can get insurance and save a few bucks at the same time.
From my experience, I've worked for captive agencies and brokerage agencies before. I've always found better results with single carrier agencies. Brokerage agencies tend to have brokerage fees and do not get selective rates with carriers.

If you have the time for it, just call companies directly and you'll get selective rates. I can produce a Farmers Insurance policy cheaper than a broker selling our same policy.

That maybe true if I'm only interested in a Farmers insurance policy. My time is worth something . If what you say is true once I have the best bang for the buck through a brokerage agency all one has to do is call the same insurance company through a single carrier. Is that what your saying or posting.

Exactly. More importantly, insurance companies do not like seeing customers switch between multiple carriers as it negatively impacts your insurance score. Think of it like have multiple credit cards.

Nothing wrong with multiple credit cards if they are paid on time. This actually increases credit score as long as it doesn't drastically change the debt to income ratio. In capitalism it behooves individuals to shop for the best bang for the buck. Just as businesses try to gouge as much as they can.

I was just correlating how credit systems vs. insurance systems work—obviously there are distinct exceptions:)

To drive the point home, insurance companies do not like seeing frequent changes to providers. My experience warrants that someone who has been with 1 carrier for 10 years will receive a better premium offer than someone who has been with 10 carriers over 10 years.

I see the opposite of have been in a opposite situation. Over 10 years with the same company only to have price increases along the way. The last one was the straw that broke the camel's back.

For me it's like the insurance company is taking advantage of someone. It's difficult to leave a company or a job and both the insurance company and the employer takes advantage of this.

This thread is several months old and I was contemplating switching from Allstate at that time.

I switched to State Farm and this year it only saved about $150. Why bother? Because the car insurance is far cheaper, and homeowner's is more.

But looking at the last several years, car insurance has increased at a much higher year-over-year rate than homeowners. Meaning that I expect my next renewal for auto to be a considerable savings compared to not switching, and even moreso six months after that.

Mine hasn't changed for 23, 24, or 25 due in .............the Maverick is $561/year for full coverage. I have auto & home with same company, there's a bunch of discounts listed, only one that I'm aware of the cost is paying it in full knocks off 10%. Just talked with my insurance guy..........I have something called rate lock, everything stays the same unless I change vehicles or drivers..........so mine will change when the 25 arrives in the next month or so.

Because more people are driving again. I called SF about my increases over the past 4 years, almost every year, and each time nothing on my policy changed but the same "this is normal, State Farm is just increasing premiums to make up for how low they were during the pandemic" message was sent every time.

Time to shop!

Right, so shopping with another company *should* provide you with better rates since you’ve had longevity with your current company.

No, they kept raising my premium causing me to shop. I bought from another company and at renewal they raised their price as well. I again shopped again and actually found a lower premium then either of them with the same coverage. I even switched my side by side that I had for 7 years because it was half the premium. After this I have no brand loyalty with insurance companies.

I shopped around and got better rates for a year, then my auto insurance went up 20% and my homeowners went up 30%. It's like dealing with Spectrum. You have to annually change providers to get the best deal. Most people don't want to bother searching and just pay whatever they say. It's a constant battle. 😬
