I just received my updated Insurance quote for the next 6 months and found the premium was raised ~33%. My agent told me that the primary reason was that the Maverick's Comprehensive Rating Group Code went up 4 levels from 014 to 018. Has anyone else experienced a significant increase in insurance?

I don't know as I just got my Maverick July 27th and my insurance expires August 27th. I had already paid for my wife's car and the car I ended up traded in so in the end I only ended up owing $700 for the balance from July 27th thru August 27th of 2025. So I guess by my calculations the Maverick was about 1250 for a year for full coverage. Not sure how that compares to what you pay.

mine increased 18% but I did not dig into the details of which vehicle increased more. I have a Bronco and Maverick, and the Bronco is far more expensive to insure even though it is driven fewer than 4,000 miles a year. 2 drivers with no points, no claims in well over 5 years.

I believe the Maverick over the past 3 years has been totaled easily and often due to the lack of parts (some states say you have to repair in X days or it's totaled), rear frame rail crumple zone and (relative to many other vehicles) low cost in MSRP.

I also think that insurance companies are sharing information through third parties data brokers and skirting collusion. I'm guessing someone will sue them and we'll get class action settlements for like $50, and they'll keep doing it.

$300 for 6 months to $560 in a bit over 2.5 years for me via Progressive. And that's significantly cheaper than anyone else will offer me.

are you using their mobile spyware app to get a better rate? my allstate agent tried to get me signed up for theirs, but it's not remotely close to worth it.

forgot to mention, I have been tracking this a few years. sept 2023 I saw a 12% increase. then sept 2024 I'm staring at another 18%.

Yup, I just renewed my Progressive in MASS today!. The $637 I spent for my paid off Nissan Titan went up to $884 for the Mav with same coverage. I did some adjusting (bumped my deductible up a bunch) and got it to around $750. Thats with the paid in full discounts for 6 months.

I got quotes from several insurance companies before taking delivery. At the time there was quite a discrepancy or difference. I went with the least expensive. 6 months later they raised the price at renewal. So I again got different quotes. Ended up saving more than my original premium. Also switch my UTV insurance over as well and saved on that as well.

I highly suggest contacting an insurance agency that uses multiple insurance companies. For example if they use 10 insurance companies that's 10 calls you don't have to make. Best of luck, hope you can get insurance and save a few bucks at the same time.

Mine's been rising every 6 months for the past couple of years. Inflation mostly.

It did go down when I got the maverick, but that's because I went from 2 vehicles to one. And one of those two was an F-150, which is apparently kind of expensive to insure even though 6 years old.

Nope. I drive "spiritedly" when safe to do so on the forest service roads around me very often and there's no way in hell I'd give them data for my braking and acceleration. 🤭

I'm shocked it took this long for your insurance premium to increase.

You are like 6 months to a year late to the party here!

I should also say that if you are not plugging in your own numbers online for insurance now days there is a 100% chance you are overpaying... er... overpaying on an already overpriced policy.

One has to wonder at what point do people stop getting insurance? Michigan has been in a death spiral for a few years. No fault and rising rates have caused it to climb fast and the faster it climbs the more people don’t have it. Last time I got in an accident the driver at fault had zero insurance.
Which then raises my insurance more.

Insurance is up across the board, it is a racket. I shop annually for the lowest rate and switch but even that is going to bite me soon on the home insurance because my roof (although completely fine) is near age of replacement.
