I am wanting to buy a Maverick to tow behind my Mercedes Sprinter Motorhome. I have a 2024 Lariat on order which they are now pushing to a 2025. Looks like many changes for the 2025, they are showing I can only get AWD with the required Hybrid engine that I'm told is needed to flat row. I'm reading the AWD can only be towed short distances, am I going to have to reduce to the XLT and FWD to get the unit I am needing for a tow vehicle?

You cannot flat tow any 2025 Maverick. You will need to downgrade to a lower trim from Lariat if you want a FWD to dolly tow.

There was a thread about this a while ago. Ford reps said this was wrong, and the both the FWD and AWD Hybrids can be flat towed. The guides and manuals need updating to correct this.

From Ford Authority: According to Dawn McKenzie, Ford Trucks communications manager, the owner’s manual in its current form erroneously states that the 2025 Ford Maverick hybrid all-wheel drive cannot be flat towed. We can expect an update to resolve this error too, but for now let the record state that every Maverick hybrid pickup can be recreationally towed.

Hmm, I’m pretty sure there was some fairly recent posts about flat towing being a new option on some of the ’25s. I’d try the search tool or the similar threads section below.

There is another thread on this ( about a week ago). The end result, documentation from Ford Corporate, is that the hybrid awd CAN BE TOWED 4 down.
Part of the confusion was that prior to 25, awd was only available available with the gas engine and 8spd automatic transmission. Even at that time, the online versions (HTML, PDF?) were giving conflicting information, one had been updated, the other not yet.

I read online that the Hybrid engine is required and both the AWD and FWD are flat towable but the AWD only for shorter distances. The chart that @commadorbob sent shows the regular Maverick isn't towable but the 2 Hybrid versions are TBD (To be determined) so not a NO yet.

Honestly, I'd be hard pressed to believe that a Dealer would accept an online posting from a Ford Communications Manager that any damage from flat towing would be covered under warranty. We are going on 3+ weeks and the Owners Manual (pdf) has still not be updated, and the HTML does not clearly specify the acceptability, but kind of dances around the subject.

May be a moot point, if the aftermarket doesn't develop the bracket kit.

The owner's manual has been updated online, at least the HTML version. The PDF version should be updated in the near future.

The HTML version DOES NOT have the AWD hybrid exclusion for flat towing, so that means it is just like the FWD hybrid and can be flat towed.

While the 2025 can be flat towed, you may want to wait until you are sure there is a good baseplate in the market that works for the 2025. The front radar/ACC package has been relocated on the 2025 to a place where the existing baseplates typically covered. It sounds like Blue Ox may have a new design for 2025 that fixes their catastrophic issues with their earlier design, but I have not seen any installation videos on that yet to say how well it works.
