Could also be building them and using a temporary chip and sharing it between them to move them out of assembly like happened with F150s months ago.

Let's just hope that they don't do with the Maverick's like they did with the Bronco Sport's and just let them sit while they keep building and delivering current day vehicles while the vehicles that were built first just sit and collect dust.

If what Tim said is right then I think its safe to say that this chip issue won't cause long standing delays. Sounds like Ford resolved it quickly to keep production moving properly.

Yes, to keep production moving. He didn't say what or when they would be taking care of the vehicles that have been sidelined waiting for the chips. Ford kept the Bronco Sport production line going also when they had a chip supply problem, but it took FIVE MONTHS for them to put the chips in the vehicles that had been sidelined to begin with.

Pease provide proof that this was actually done. They sat because they had other constraints as well.

Oh, I can provide proof. I ordered my Bronco Sport on March 11th. Build date was slid three times until I received my windows sticker on 06/14. On 06/21 vehicle started build process, by the end of the week, vehicle was on chip hold for Restraint Control Module. It sat at the Hermosillo Plant until RCM module was installed on 10/02. On October 11th it was shipped by rail. On November 2nd it arrived at the rail port and November 6th was delivered to the dealership. How much more proof do you want?

According to the vehicle visibility report, mine has been built but is sitting waiting for the necessary chips to be installed. I haven't received a "has been built" email since it is still missing parts so it is not considered to be built.

Watch the YouTube video from Tim Bartz from last night and he explains the issue with the chips, and Ford calls it a "commodity problem".
In Tim's video he stated the issue only lasted about a week and that Ford paid double the usual shipping costs to get the chips delivered faster. More than likely they (the chips) had to be sent via airlines vs ground/ship.

So as of Monday according to Tim the chip issue has been resolved.

I saw some complaints, might have been on this site, with photographic proof of newly delivered Mavs with rust in some places under the truck.
Seems like reasonable proof the truck was sitting outside for some time.

Maybe it's resolved for builds that are currently on the line, that doesn't say anything for those that have already been built and are sitting outside in a parking lot waiting to have the chips installed. Ford is going to be more worried about keeping the assembly line going then it is to get the ones that are already partially built fixed and shipped. Tim, while he is very helpful with supplying information, still works for a dealership and not Ford directly. Also remember that, according to Tim, Ford tried to keep the chip shortage a secret. He didn't make mention of it until I found out from my Vehicle Visibility Report that it was on a chip hold and reported it on this forum.

Well said. Those parking lots are spread all over the country. My built Mav has been sitting on a lot outside Petersburg VA, along with others, since Nov 4 with no relief in sight. Those of you with vehicles still in Mexico, regardless of build status, will probably receive your trucks before us unfortunates that have built vehicles in remote lots awaiting chips. We will be last in line.

Are you sure yours is missing chips? Why would they ship it offsite if they haven’t tested functionality yet? Or does that make sense logistically to have a local/regional shop do the same work the factory techs would?

Ford issued a StopShip order last month on a bunch of Maverick's but never stated what the issue is, only that they had to be inspected before they could be released.
