I have a 24 hybrid on order from a small dealer and don’t anticipate it any time soon. Sold my 22 for a little more than I paid. Didn’t really need it at the time. Things changed and I picked up a used Ridgeline RTLE. I have to admit it’s rides and drives so much nicer then the Maverick. The creator comforts have spoiled me. Getting 25-26 mpg compared to 27-28 with the Maverick eco. Not sure what I’ll do when/if my Hybrid comes in.
What you will do is get a bump in mpg of about 15 to 20. If that’s not a big deal to you then maybe just keep the Ridgeline.

You must have a lot of money. The cheapest model of Honda is $5k more than the most expensive model of Ford. On a feature-for-feature basis, the Honda is about $16k or 50% more money. It competes with the midsize trucks like the Canyon or the Ranger, not the small ones. It also won't fit in most garages, can't haul 4x8 sheets like the Mav can, and can't compete on fuel economy or on cost to maintain. Its not even in the same category, so you're not comparing apples to apples.

I ordered a ‘24 XL 4K in August, dealer recently called and said it will be ready in November ! Is it possible I might get mine before 2023 orders ( 23 converted to 24 )?
I was expecting it to be ready in the spring and I wasn’t planning on driving it in our salty Ontario winters, as I have a couple of winter vehicles already.
I asked him about maybe making a few bucks on this one and reordering and he said he’s not even interested in it, he has a couple of used ones and one new on the lot already. His lot is full of new F150’s and some other assorted overpriced metal.
I even put an ad on Kijiji , it’s been a week and no interest at all !
Im happy to take it, just letting others know that if where you live prices are still high and you were considering selling - maybe now’s a good time.
So you haven’t received it and you are already trying to flip it and make a profit?

Ford lots are getting very full again. Starting to see pricing below MSRP.

Shit-ton of Broncos and Mustangs and F-150s.

So many in fact buy one, get one 50% off sales are imminent.

Nope, went from a base XLT FWD with 10K miles to a loaded AWD Ridgeline with 20K miles for $6K. Will probably have to pony up some money when/if my XLT hybrid shows up.

I should say that I really liked my Maverick. Always looked forward to driving it. Even though it’s nicer, I don’t get the same feeling with the Ridgeline.

FYI: A 4x8 sheet of plywood fits between the wheel wells.

I hope the bubble is over. My biggest concern is that the dealer will hold my order hostage for an additional markup. I have x-plan and the dealer I ordered from Isn't on the blacklist. But one never knows whether a dealer is honest until its time to sign the final papers.

The bubble is not over yet, especially for the Hybrids. Sold an XL Hybrid to Carvana for $3.5k over MSRP three weeks ago, while a friend just sold an XLT hybrid to Carvana this week for $5.6k over MSRP.

A few facts about the Maverick market that might help. Facts are good.

1. The order banks have stayed open this year far longer than most predicted - a few months now? You can decide for yourself if that implies hordes of buyers storming showrooms with wads of $10,000 bills in hand.

2. A check of nationwide used Mavericks on cars.com last year showed about 900 available. Just did one today and it's around 1,100. I was really interested in how many of those had under 100 miles - quite a few, but I didn't count. I'm guessing those are the flippers. About 650 of those used Mavericks are under 10,000 miles. A few are way past 50,000 miles already.

3. Looking for new Mavericks with photos - showed about 2,500. About 9 of 10 of those were computer generated photos (generally in transit to a customer and not sitting on a lot), so I'm guessing that means around 250 actual Mavericks new sitting on dealer lots. That's a very wild guess with not the best documentation. I'm making a really big assumption that every dealer in the USA photographs their new cars.

4. Ford is raising prices each year (fact) . You generally don't do that if demand is low (guess).

So reading the tea leaves, I'd say demand is solid but not insanely high. Remember that there's fleet demand for the Maverick too. As for walking onto a lot and seeing a dozen Mavericks lined up with discounts on each - automakers have been very vocal that they don't want to go back to those days. So far they've practiced what they preached - cutting production when demand wanes. Back in the day, you would have seen ads for huge discounts to keep the plants on three shifts. Ford has also been very vocal that they want to move to a customer-order sales model, btw.

When The sticker comes in the Email I will post it. The Folks at 5 Star in Garland have always went by the sticker on all that I ordered. It Will Be a Blue XL Hybrid with a Trailer hitch.
I might be interested but all the Dallas area dealers I contacted this week all had mark ups or add ons. One dealer had $10k-12k in add ons.

Have you seen the ridiculous number of F150's and fairly large number of Bronco Sports on the lots? Ford is having to discount these just to clear the lots. Those plants clearly didn't read the memo about cutting back production. There are absolutely no Mavericks on dealer lots within 100 miles of me that are not already sold within one hour of being refused by the person ordering them.
Hey Ford, how about shutting down some of those F150 lines and make more Mavs instead.

Ford stock down 17%. Their bigger profit vehicles are filling up lots. Not sure if recent concessions to unions are a factor in stock drop but I think layoffs are next. I don’t see any worker at Hermosillo being laid off any time soon.
That and more Mexico plants. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

For the manufacturers, profit will reign. Always.

Did inflation have any part of the price increase?
The short answer is "yes"

Any time minimum wage for no skill/low skill jobs is increased, it has a domino effect as an increase to all basic costs of living (i.e. inflation), and ultimately does not significantly increase purchasing power for anyone on minimum wage.

Then anyone with skills higher than required for low skill/no skill jobs will rightfully want higher wages than was paid what is now the minimum wage, because they now can get a job requiring significantly less skill for the same pay as before.

This goes all the way up the income scale, because inflation does not increase purchasing power, it only increases cost of living.

meh southern California economics are rarely a solid gauge for the rest of the country... it's very different.

i drove from my home in Green Valley, Arizona to my home in Alamos, Sonora on Thursday (10/26/2003) and couldn't believe the number of Mavericks that I was seeing on Semi Trucks between Nogales AZ/SON and Hermosillo Sonora. Probably 12 semi-trucks in that 3 hours span... All loaded with Mavericks, no Bronco Sports... Definitely were some late built MY2023s because I saw quite a few Cyber Oranges, Area 51s Alto Blues being ferried. Didn't see a single MY2024 Terrain, which was disappointed... However, not sure I would have gotten a good sense for the color looking across the grassy median with me heading 70mph southbound and the trucks heading 70mph northbound..

I ordered 7/17 and have a build date of 12/4. I live very close to the border (ordered from a Nogales AZ dealership), so I wonder if my truck will be transported on a semi instead of train? Anyway, that quick turn around leads me to believe the rush is over.. those who absolutely had to have one at any cost, well they have theirs now for the most part.

personally, I'm glad flipping is over... bottom feeders filled the banks so fast for mY2023 that many of us couldn't even get our orders in.... no loss on my part... i'm glad that nonsense is over..
