I was thinking about ppf but how does I adhere if not adhesive? My friend has ppf on his white car and after several years it’s now outlined with black from dirt, I’m guessing. I didn’t like that look either.
Thats a great point. Eventually, the paint will fade a bit and there will be a noticeable line. I was also thinking of just polishing and waxing regularly with good quality products and avoiding the highways/freeways as much as possible.

I also have a lifted Jeep Wrangler with 35s and have zero paint chips on my hood or windshield and use the highway everyday. I guess because it sits so high? Don't know.

Counterpoint:

Just sold my MY22 Maverick XLT Hybrid that has these factory options added:
Co-Pilot360 + Rear Sliding Window + 110V/400W Outlet in Cab
Also added aftermarket: Hard Drop-In Bedliner + Rear Splash Guards + Front Windows Tinted

I purchased it on 12/13/2021 for the out-the-door price of $26,068.21
MSRP was $24,175.85 which includes delivery charge

Sold to Carvana today 8/28/2023 for $31,404
That price is $5,335.79 over my out-the-door price of $26,068.21
and $7,228.15 over MSRP price of $24,175.85 which includes delivery charge

Sold my MY 2022 Maverick to Carvana for a $5,335.79 Profit
That is probably why Carvana is slowly going down the tubes. They offered me 17K for a low mileage 10 year old Honda Accord Hybrid that I'll be selling or trading when the new Mav arrives this fall. Paid 24K and some change out the door new.

Same here with a lifted 2004 4x4 Ford Excursion PSD. Zero paint chips on the hood after 19 years of ownership.

Yes regarding chips. At 2k miles I installed an aftermarket deflector on my Mav. Seems to be stronger than the hood paint. ( paint is very thin) Also it seems to deflect stones away from the windshield.

Never liked hood deflectors. They are a pain to install and remove. I don't like anything that uses adhesive to install. I'm thinking of PPF on mine.
Although I like the premise of them I have found that debris can can stuck under them. Also can be troublesome in a car wash. Poor job leaving the adhesive stuck on.

I had an Iconic Silver Maverick for almost two years before trading it in on my current Maverick. I never had as much as a scratch on any part of the hood--no deflector. I just hope my Atlas blue does as well.
My Iconic Silver never had any chips or scratches either, after 18 months and 27,000 miles.
I had purchased the low-profile OEM textured deflector, but never installed it.

I installed my hood deflector to protect the Windshield from rocks, prevents most bugs as well.
Got a rock crack 12 days after I bought my Mav.

The original(discontinued) Aeroskin 2 creates wind deflection. A year and a half later, no issues, or rock chips/cracks, and rarely any bugs to clean off.
