I remember one interaction with a car salesman when looking for a Fusion w/manual back in 2014........."we don't order those because they don't sell!". I asked him how many would sell if he had one on the lot......................crickets....lol. Found a dealer 60 miles away in Indy that had 2 on the lot-one white and one black-I bought the black one! Salesman there claimed he had sold several-just couldn't keep them in stock-Ford wasn't making enough of them............interesting why would Ford not keep up? Dealer ignorance in many locations is my guess--------------what do you think would be the reason???

Never going to happen.

Paddle shifters on an "ST" would be nice, but also not likely.
We had two 2017 Escapes with paddle shifters until I traded my 2.0L in for the Maverick. At first, I didn't like the idea but now, I miss those things on the Mav.

the natural take rate of manual transmissions could be 20% (USA) because that is the number of people who “want one”, by recent surveys, sadly the majority of these folks do not buy new cars and a much larger number than you would expect is young. As such they make due with what’s available since they don’t order new cars.

Manual transmissions were mostly killed by government edict

1. Very expensive pollution certification’s driven by any change including transmission
2. $100m Crash certifications that also require repeating on a different XMSN.

if Ford offers multiple engine or transmission options it drives one or both recertification costs. Which in of itself is too expensive to make profit

You get political arguments when the cause is from flawed 1980’s era platform law.

Do that regularly; vastly Improves the experience. ;)

Or improve your vocabulary so you won't resort to obscene language..........
He's just keepin' it 'classy', representin' queensbury. :cautious:

i'd like to see a source for that. i suspect there are a number of people who want better control of shiftpoints (paddle shifters and such), but I suspect the number of folks who are want to operate a clutch pedal in traffic is quite low.

Yep, manual trans, single cab with 6 or even 8 foot bed. Ford could make a few dozen people very happy.
Don't forget the RWD. There's another 1/2 dozen people who need that in their Maverick instead of buying a Ranger.

It's wildly incorrect. Of the relatively few vehicles available with true manuals (fully human operated clutch) one of the highest take rates is the mustang which I mentioned above has been slower acceleration than the automatic since at least 2015. And it's currently 27% for the new mustang and the previous gen peaked at 40%.

The Bronco was 15% in 21 and has been falling since. Wrangler is only 3% manual lol.

For sportscars that offer both the take rate is typically under 10% because any sequential or dual clutch automatic outperforms a manual by an even wider amount than the mustang torque converter-equipped traditional automatic.

The manual conversation in a Maverick is utterly absurd. Never going to happen.
