Hello All Current and Future Maverick Customers

We fully recognize there is a lot of interest and excitement about the Maverick. We are here to answer your questions and be as transparent with you as possible about any confusion in the ordering, scheduling, and production process. Rest-assured, our goal is to build as many Mavericks as we can and satisfy as many new Maverick customers as possible given global supply chain challenges. First, we have seen incredibly strong demand for this vehicle, receiving 12 months of orders in the first 3 months! This paired with unprecedented supply chain issues has caused delays in scheduling customers’ orders for production. We recognize this has caused frustration, and we are working non-stop to find solutions to get vehicles into your driveways as quickly as possible.

The unforeseen and unprecedented challenges with the supply chain are currently impacting the following optional features and packages on Maverick:
  • Co-Pilot360 package (optional on XL, XLT, and Lariat trims)
  • XLT Luxury package (optional on XLT trim)
  • Lariat Luxury package (optional on Lariat trim; requires Co-Pilot360 package)
  • Spray-In Bedliner (optional on XL, XLT, and Lariat trims; included in Lariat Luxury package)
  • Cargo Management System (optional on XL, XLT, and Lariat trims; included in XLT & Lariat Luxury packages)
  • Hard Trifold Tonneau Cover (optional on XL, XLT, and Lariat trims)
  • Splash Guards, Molded, Front and Rear (optional on XL, XLT, and Lariat trims)
If you have an unscheduled 2022 model year retail order and have been waiting an extended period for my order to be scheduled, confirm with your Ford dealer that they have completed the required Customer Order Verification Process (COVP) and received confirmation of its approval. If your order has any of the constrained options or packages listed above, you could choose to remove them from your order by working with your dealer, and that will increase the chances of it getting scheduled sooner due to the current commodity constraints. While we understand that nobody wants to make tradeoffs, it is an option to consider if you need your vehicle as soon as possible. We will do everything possible to build your vehicle within the ā€˜22MY, however the dynamic supply base and manufacturing environment we are currently experiencing makes it difficult to promise the vehicle will be scheduled this year. Since oldest orders are prioritized first, orders most likely to be impacted are those that were submitted closest to the Hybrid (Nov. 15th) or Ecoboost (Jan. 27th) order cut off dates.

Thank you for your interest in Maverick and your patience during this process. Our goal is to build as many Mavericks as we can so you can get out there and enjoy the 2022 North American Truck of the Year.

I think the number being thrown around is 80-100,000 RESERVATIONS not orders. Because people reserved but didn't convert to an order. We have 900 reservations but 500 orders.
Wow! At this rate I'm going to have to revise down my MY 2022 Maverick sales estimate of 75,000, split 30,000 Hybrid and 45,000 EB. May not hit that, unless Ford extends MY 2022 production again beyond the current early October, 2022 timeframe. This truck is going to turn into a boutique vehicle (i.e. low volume) soon at these low production rates, much like the Hyundai Santa Cruz already is.

This confirms even more why I'm predicting that the EB 1.5L 3 cyl becomes a third engine choice for MY 2023, while keeping the existing Hybrid and EB 2.0L 4 cyl engines. In researching, I find the vast majority of Bronco Sports and Escapes sold today use the 3 cyl engine, so I know it will sell. I know it's a bit of a raspy, and at low rpms, vibration-prone engine. But it's there and would be an easy swap for a base FWD Maverick. Of course, keep the Hybrid, but add this one as an alternative base engine. I know a lot of folks have chimed in that a 3 cyl Maverick would be underpowered, but if you look at the specs, the 3 cyl is very comparable to the Hybrid in power and torque. It has significantly less gas mileage, but still better than the EB 2.0L 4 cyl. Heck, I could see the EB 2.0L switching to only being offered in AWD, much like it is today with the Escape and Bronco Sport and offer the Hybrid and the 3 cyl for FWD only. This would make the difference in MPG between the EB 3 cyl and EB 4 cyl even more evident. It assumes the Ford Chihuahua Engine Plant could produce enough of those 3 cyl engines for all three models, but only Ford knows that. They could possibly import extra engines from the Ford Romania plant that also makes that engine. After all, many of the EB 2.0L 4 cyl engines come from Europe already from the Valencia, Spain plant, supplementing the Cleveland, Ohio plant as a source.

It's all speculation on my part, but we are living in strange times, times I have not seen since the late '70s. Crazy high gas prices and high vehicle prices in many cases. (Inflation was crazy then, too.) I still think the F-150 gas models are going to take a hit in sales from here on out, given $4-5 per gallon gas, and hope Ford can ramp up the F-150 Lightning production quickly. I know lots of folks think this prediction of a 3 cyl Maverick is crazy and will never happen, but we'll see. Stranger things have happened.

In the meantime, I will continue to wait for the scheduling of my June-ordered XL Hybrid, and if need be, roll it to MY 2023. Gas prices are likely to be elevated for a long time.
I agree with you. that putting the 1.5 3 cyl turbo thats in the escape and bronco sport wouldn’t be a bad idea at all for a base engine in the maverick as an alternative to the hard to find and make hybrid and 2.0 ecoboost. It may not happen as you say…but it’s not a bad idea thats for sure.

Why then it lose the appeal. The Maverick will be a complete dog.

So basically, you're saying my January Ecoboost order for an XLT with the Luxury Package is pretty much a pipe dream? I mean, I have one constraint item, but I'd hate to think there is simply no hope of receiving my truck this year.

May not be - honestly cannot figure out. Ours was a 12/10 order XLT AWD Eco Lux 4K FX4 CP360 Moonroof DIBL - and was just built and shipped. As of 3/29 in Tucson on the train. So some of these are being built and shipped - no idea how they figure out who gets what. Good luck hope you get yours as configured.

The greatest frustration is that after waiting six months with not a single peep from FMC other that one email from the dealer telling me that if I drop all the options there’s a possibility that I might get a vehicle equipped in a way I don’t want or I can keep waiting and it’s likely it will be canceled. I’ve also been told that if my order is cancelled I get no priority on the next years model. I get the supply chain issues. Is there no way that you can figure out in short order what vehicles you will be able to build or cancel based on parts orders?

A three and a half month turnaround? That's amazing. How in the world does that happen?

I ordered XLT Eco AWD 4k Lux on 12/28 and this post from Ford is making me think I should drop the Lux and add back a DIBL (and a moonroof for funsies). But maybe I should stick it out another couple of weeks.

How long after you order until you got a notification for "scheduled for production"?

" First, we have seen incredibly strong demand for this vehicle, receiving 12 months of orders in the first 3 months! ". So you knew that you maxxed out of capacity at the beginning of September yet you continued to take orders for the hybrid thru mid Nov and the Eco thru most of January? You couldn't have put some disclaimer out there for the poor saps ordering after Sept saying oh well we're maxed out so expect to wait til 2023 (at least) to get your truck? Assh---s.

I just got my shipped email (2/30) for my September order. It is a Lariat ECO with the Luxury package and the spray in bedliner. I just sat pat after adding the tow package in October to my Chapman Horsham ordered Mav.

Hey Ford, remember when you emailed and told me I'd get my Maverick in 2022? To be honest, I feel pretty misled now hearing that I may not get it this year.
