I appreciate the effort, but those stripes and wheel choice are questionable. The stripe thing, in 2023 really needs to be reconsidered. I know certain parts of the country these are more popular. But it is a pretty dated idea in the car world.
I love the strips!

Yes, you said performance upgrades. But you only listed 1 and without other items it isn't really a "performance upgrade". Yes it is lowered with some wheels, the grille bar has been painted, stripes added and probably some Katzkin seat covers on the interior. But none of that is performance oriented.

Let me get this straight, you feel that after adding an intake, and maybe a few other things, that the only logical next step is to do a motor swap?!? You are missing about 100-150hp worth of upgrades well before the "logical" step of a 2.3L engine....
I think i would rather stroke the 2.0L block with the 2.3L crank that swap the 2.3L if we're going for big power. Closed deck FTW. What advantages do the 2.3 have over the 2.0 other than the obvious of displacement and a bigger stock turbo? Would be interesting to see 1/4 mile times between your 2.0L with ranger turbo and 2.3L with ranger turbo.

Actually, I think all the 2.0 and 2.3s are open deck now.I think the closed deck ones were the early gen, like pre 2015. But don't quote me, lol.

The 2.3 has the torque advantage, and can spool a turbo a little quicker. 2.0 will make the same power, but at a higher rpm.

We did not see upgrades available to the motor that could be accomplished under a warranty. Everything we do at Long McArthur will be covered under a 3 year/36k mile Warranty. There are many people doing some cool things for performance adds, but many of those are not covered under warranty. And we don't like to put our customers out in a vehicle without covering them.

I feel like you would be 99% risk free offering aftermarket tuning on this platform. And people will pay for it! Cobb, 5Star, Livernois and others all have extremely safe OTS tunes.

Audi dealerships did that with STaSIS back in the day. Although STaSIS is very unique in the tuning community as the offer the same warranty as the factory hence why Audi would offer tunes straight from the dealer. I would bet you if any of those tuners offered that type of backing, Ford dealerships might offer tunes when you buy your vehicle. The age old adage; put your money where your mouth is.

I was trying to wait for the video but this does have a Cobb Tuning Kit on it as a performance upgrade. (Spoiler Alert)

Big question, what does all this "performance" cost the consumer? A lowering kit, wheels/tires, CAI and tuner and some stripes should be fairly reasonable, no?

Very nice. Definitely would be sweet to see dealerships doing performance specials like back in the day. I could see a intake, intercooled, and exhaust customer job with a piggy back tune like the Panda module running fast with drop springs good shocks and sway bars. And maybe a brake pad upgrade. Maybe they could offer a limited warranty and guarantee work at their shop. Call it the Maverick GT Special. Could even start with XL 4k since wheels and custom interior bits would be likely changed up and customer spec'd. Could be set up in stages, like handling, performance, and appearance with a small discount on multiple packages.
Sorry, it’s hard to go along with a $10,000 “upgrade”. It does look nice but I’m not sure it’s well spent on what was supposed to be an inexpensive vehicle.

Sounds like you aren't into beefing vehicles up. That's ok, but plenty people are.

If you have a spare $10K then fine. I don’t and even if I did there are plenty of other uses I could find for it. My Mav is plenty beefed up as it is and I didn’t spend $10K to do it. As you can see I have done a lot to it. It came with AWD, BAP, SIBL, Hitch receiver, cargo management system, Pilot 360, blind spot monitoring, Homelink mirror and rear cross traffic alert. I added window tinting, front seat covers, knob accents, retractable bed cover( most expensive addition at $1,007), wireless CarPlay, wireless charging, cargo nets, FITS Accessories and Weathertech floor mats. So, no I’m not against upgrading per se, I’m just not sure I would spend $10K that I don’t have. 👍🏻
