I've owned a 2002 Explorer since 2008 and never used the keypad. I have the keypad on my 2023 FX4 and so far have only used the keypad to see if it worked.

For me the keypad is a not an issue but I do understand that some may feel differently.
I use mine all the time, going for a hike, or kayak, I have even left the truck for my kid coming in from a flight, left the keys hidden in the truck and just gave them the location and the code. I LOVE the key pad

I wonder how much cheaper the decent 2022 lariat would be, assuming it had all the recalls fixed and had reasonably low mileage. Makes me think I'll go that route as I'm in no hurry
I can actually attest to this. I traded my '22 Lariat for the '24 Lariat FX4 on my avatar with all but one recall fixed which was was the rear turn signal one. It left with just over 12,000 miles and still looks brand new. I even went to the trouble of detailing it the morning of to make sure that it's represented properly. Both the sales managers and finance manager were super impressed since most people don't go out of their way to do that. As a result, I looked on their website and they're asking top dollar for my trade-in, $34,500. New, the MSRP was $35,062. So in their eyes, it only depreciated a little over $500 which is insane! Just goes to show how taking care of your vehicle goes a long way when trading in.

All fair points but I would be okay if my MY23 Maverick didn't have colored mirror caps, a wired keypad, or heated wipers.

Naw I just get in my truck and tell the radio to play me some Allman Brothers and walla next thing you know I’m hearing some great music. 😊 But no I don’t have many CDs left and don’t miss them but I do regret not keeping all my old LPs.
yeah, I get it...I have like 500 CDs, 1k lps, and yes I do have some reel to reel tapes and a deck to play them on though besides looking sort of cool it's sort of a drag. I'm so old.....

I hate the looks of the keypad and never use it. I say good riddance it makes the truck look like a '90s Lincoln or Mercury. Unfortunately, I can't get rid of the keypad since there would be a hole in the door. I wish it was a stick on unit as it would have been gone the first week. I got a Fob with a backup key how many more ways do you need to get in the truck?
Suit yourself. I use my keypad daily. When I get out I just hit the last 2 buttons to lock it. And before my truck came in, I had a Fusion Energy Titanium. So no key. Kept them in my pocket and when I would get out, I'd use the pad to lock it. Super convenient.

Going somewhere, I can lock my keys in the truck and never fear of losing them (beach is open place you NEVER want to lose your keys). Being I sold Fords for 23 years, and hearing from thousands of customers, the majority LOVED this feature and it was something FORD had over the competition. Shame they did the "stick-on" job.

Yep, I hear ya. I originally wanted a Mav in 2022 but One got sold out from under me and the other I reserved the dealer tagged on $5K when I went to pick it up so I walked away from that one.

I was excited when I ordered a 2024 until I saw they removed the rear slider, keypads etc. It was also almost several thousand more than the 2022 I originally spec'd out.

I ended up walking away from it when it came in.... Sadly I think Ford had a great offering which they've slowly ruined. I know a lot of people will pay mid $30k for a Mav because "its the cheapest 'truck' available", I'm just not one of those people.

Hoping possibly Ford reads their surveys and turns things around in the future. I doubt it though. I'm sure they'll add even more crap we don't need like larger screens etc to the Mav and keep bumping the price up.
Well I'm hoping that they increased production to the point where the price does come down. Obviously they were making money on them when they originally released them with the lower price. I just don't think they could keep up with demand. Hopefully now that Ford has raised the prices officially so the dealer doesn't get the cut once they make enough. If there are more people like you and they start sitting on the lot then they'll cut prices

But the reel to reel sounds so much better than all the digital stuff. That was the trade off of CDs, less sound quality but much more convenient. Not quite so convenient today. I just use CarPlay with Apple Music. They work great together. I know there are those that don’t want to go that way and I get that to.

Would agree but I've been locked out 5 or 6 times and that's when the keypad becomes a necessity. To the point I would not order another Maverick without the keypad or have the automatic locking doors fixed.

I bought a 22 XLT lux hybrid 3 weeks before my 24 Lariat order arrived. I too didn’t care for them removing the features you mentioned. The keypad is the biggest one for me. I enjoy having it as I don’t always have my phone or keys and I need in my truck. The dealer keypad works but when i ordered it said “molded in color” and when the truck showed up the sticker says keypad and nothing about color. It’s black and doesn’t illuminate but it’s there. Maverick Hybrid is the only game in town and Ford can do what it wants. Still a steal for a new vehicle IMO and fits my needs perfectly.

yep - r/rs were better than LPs that was their draw, like you say CD quality less than r/rs, but most stream svcs are less quality than CDs...so it is sometimes amusing when people upgrade their speakers to get a better sound which is understandable of course but then they're getting a better sound being used with an inferior streaming source so I don't know quite what gets gained in all of this except the convenience which is great of course.

Dose anyone else feels cheated as Ford has removed standard features on Lariat maverick models.
I purchased a 2022 Maverick Lariat FX4 and absolutely loved the truck. I liked is so much that l purchased a 23 Maverick Lariat Hybrid, I like the Lariat for all the features that it brings to the truck. I believe that Ford has a great little truck in the Maverick but l really missed the all wheel drive on my Maverick that I decided to order a 24 Lariat FX4 because I loved my first truck so much.
Before I placed my order l read here on Maverick Truck club that Ford was going remove some features on the Lariat model. I was very disappointed that the body color mirrors , heater wipers and the Door Entry Key pad would no longer be on the truck. The Lariat is the Premium Maverick model and should have all these features .Ford offers factory door key pads on multiple lower trip models as standard equipment. THE Door Key Pad has been on Ford and Lincoln vehicles since the 1980 s and No other manufacture offers it. l read that , again here of Maverick Truck Club that Ford had so many complaints about the Keypad that they had decided to offer it as a dealer installed option. I also remember reading years ago that Ford had conducted a focus group to remove the. Key pad but also had so much negative feedback that they scrapped the idea. I saw that Ford offers a wired in key pad for the Explorer , Escape and the Bronco Sport. So l ordered my 2024 Maverick Lariat FX4 with the dealer installed door key pad. (The truck l ordered was $3500 more than my 22 with less features.) This is where my disappointment with Maverick starts . I received my truck and picked my key pad and it was a stick on unit that looks a auto parts add on unit ( a note as well when the battery goes bad you have to replace the whole unit.) If Ford is listening bring back the hard wire door entry key pad , with the Maverick price increase in the last 2 years it should be on the truck. l have had multiple Ford vehicles , my wife has a Hybrid Escape , my F150 XLT has the door key pad. I hope to read here on Maverick Truck Club that Ford is listening to its customers and is bringing back the hard wire door key pad .
Confused...so you have a 2022,2023 and 2024 maverick and are taking turns driving all three? Or you got rid of your maverick after only one year? I plan on keeping my one maverick at least 15 years.

A keypad would be nice and it's convenient. But not a necessity. There are lowtech workarounds to prepare for an eventual "I locked my keys in the truck." Get a locksmith to cut a metal "test" key. It's not a fob or chip key, so it won't start the truck. But it's cheap and will open the door or the tailgate if you have an oh-shit key moment.

Have not used the Maverick backseat since I owned the truck. Why does Ford include a backseat? They should remove it.

I do understand some may feel differently.
