the first transmission fluid change recommendation is 150k or 30k if you tow/operate in extreme conditions.
I'm aware. My point was that the warrenty doesnt even remotely cover the transmission until its first transmission fluid change (under normal operating conditions). If they mask the issue for a 34k miles than the warranty would not cover it's replacement. Even if it covered it for 60k thats still not much. Its almost impossible to know the extent of premature wear was caused from this.

Which Is reason enough for me to change the fluid at 50k. Ford doesn’t give a shit if the fluid lasts to 150k. Most people here like to follow the manual though, hahaha

All I can say is thank god for a 3/36k mile warranty and an extra car to drive while warranty work is being performed!
Wish Ford had the same warranty Hyundai offers on the Santa Cruz.
5 year / 60K, not factoring in the 10 year / 100K powertrain.

But chances are the Maverick issues will either be non-existent for years or else catastrophic immediately so that it will fall under warranty.

Same here. I was planning on changing the fluid at 50-60k. If Ford was in the business of keeping their vehicles on the road they would offer a decent warranty.

Why didn't you take it back?
Now it needs to be hauled back to the dealer.
Luckily enough, I was getting food near the dealership when I noticed it slipping. I parked it in their lot and am going to call them to let them know tomorrow.

Document EVERYTHING. Photos, videos, keep every shred of paper, document phone calls, what was said, any emails, etc.

not sure what state you’re in, but in a lot of states if they have it longer than 30 days for repairs, it can be bought back via lemon law.

sucky situation for sure.

That's actually one of my concerns. If they overfilled it they could let some fluid out or if its low they could add fluid. That wont reverse the damage that may have occured. 36,000 miles is nothing, thats not even half of what is supposed to be the normal fluid change interval.
It's definitely a fair concern, I've had issues pop up with every new Ford I've bought since 2009. Somehow, as if by magic, those problems always know not to pop up til 45k-50k miles.

Based upon what I've seen so far, I don't think I'll have the cohones to own my Mav outside of the base warranty and if I did, I think I'd be snatching up a Ford ESP warranty to cover my rear on the things it will cover.

Regardless, best of luck to you, hope this turns out to be something very simple and benign!

I plan to own my hybrid for 15 years, no ESP and drive it to 250k miles. Will see how well that works out in reality, but I'm confident most issues I can fix my self.

You are a far braver soul than I. FWIW, I'm sure your powertrain will be fine for the vast majority, if not all, of your ownership. Assuming everything gets put together correctly when built, at least. I'll admit this is becoming less of a given as timer goes on. 🤞

But the cost and complexity to fix all those nifty electronic gadgets/sensors/etc. once they start failing can get SUPER EXPENSIVE, even when the vehicle comes from batches with no problems. I speak from experience, lol.

I’m ok with it. If it starts to get too expensive I will send it to the scrap yard. For $24k I can’t afford not to keep it for ever. I figure I could put 10k into it and still be ahead of buying a Honda Ridgeline.

Yikes I find this issue very concerning! I’ve never owned a Ford, always had Subarus or Toyota’s. I ordered a XLT hybrid , I’m retired so I can’t afford to think of this truck as disposable after 3 years. I want this to be my last new truck I own. I do understand with a new vehicle there will be issues here and there but I’m starting to wonder if my XLT will be dependable.
Im just looking for honest feedback, no haters please
