Just a thought, perhaps driving in L will shorten the battery life a bit. As they say it's best to keep batteries charged between 30-80% for the longest life. idk, but a thought to throw into the conversation.

The computer won't allow the battery to overcharge or run down too low, shouldn't be a problem. The hybrid systems keep the battery charge in the sweet spot to extend battery life. If the battery hits the top end of the sweet spot and you are coasting down a big hill, ice kicks in and engine brakes. Too low? ICE kicks in. Manufactures have been working on this for over 20 years now, it's not an experiment anymore.

The charge % is carefully controlled.

But you're on the right track.
Driving in L heats up the battery more.
The extra heat is not great for the battery. Get too hot and you'll "pay" in cost of gasoline to cool it back down.

The goal should be to slow down as gently as possible: L is opposite of gentle.

I’ve gone back and forth. I do wish ford would would update the software to turn the brake lights on when in low. Maybe even in “eco” mode too as it does slow you down as well.

The only concern I had was if low mode is detrimental to the engine (currently or over time)

I do put my hazards on if I’m slowing down and there are cars behind me as I don’t want them to hit me. So I think does should address this brake light issue, but i just don’t want to inadvertently ruin the regen engine etc. but so far, it doesn’t sound like anyone here has 100% certainty on this question.

This is probably illegal in many places, and really, just use the brake pedal. It turns on the brake lights, it maximizes the charging and longevity of the truck.

I know the Maverick has a small battery. I still wish we had Regen paddles like my Volt did.
Manufacturers probably wouldn't want to put it on a normal hybrid because should the battery max out and regen drop off a driver would suddenly need to identify that and switch to the brake pedal. And potentially more likely with the small battery even with the imposed charge % limits.

L is for Lasers. The aiming is a little wonky but you'll get the hang of it.
