OH. MY. JEEZUS you are dense. Show a single post where someone says it isn't a bad business practice.
You were the one defending this practice...and you call me dense?

And you know this, how?

So gullible.

Some smart person went in there and paid like $12k over asking shortly there after.

Started at $5K over MSRP and ended up at $10K over? That isn't how you negotiate things. You went the opposite direction.

You are rough my Wasatch brother. I'm not defending anything, I simply am not completely ignorant of the fundamentals of capitalism. I attempt to charge market value for my skills in the workforce and anything I sell, not doing so would be moronic. As long as they are not doing anything illegal or hiding it, why should I hate on a business for attempting to do the same? If they miss the mark, the market will deal with them.

Because a business decides to do something that may seem out of line, that is bad business, I don't feel the need to judge them - as you hilariously said yourself, the market will eventually judge them BECAUSE IT IS BAD BUSINESS. Unfortunately, in the process of letting the market deal with these situations (or not, a lot of dumb consumers out there), I don't get to exhibit complete hypocrisy and claim fake moral superiority like you.

Had 4 salesmen call me today regarding a Maverick XLT. First began with $5k over msrp of $29k. Then $7,500, and then $10,000. We finished out at $42,700 and I laughed at them and requested to be placed on the do not call list. Some smart person went in there and paid like $12k over asking shortly there after. People really need to stop paying these prices. 🙄
I bought in Sawgrass Ford in Broward county FL and they respect the MSRP and no dealers fees at all. Just taxes and plate transfer.!!! They are the best!!!!

I love watching some of you folks justify this type of crap by a dealership. Please remember your justification of this in the coming months. It's going to be a bumpy ride.
So When you sell your used car, do you sell it at the price it should be or the inflated price since this supply chain market adjustment? Lol thats what i thought. Dealerships arent the devil lol theyre trying to make money like the rest of us. No need to lose our minds having double standards. sheesh. There’s bigger things happening in this world than vehicle prices

Some of you don't seem to get how a market economy works.

The person who owns the product or service that's being sold, whether it's a truck, house, cup of coffee, hotel room or anything else, gets to set the price they want to charge.

If someone wants to pay it, then it gets sold. If nobody does, then it goes unsold or they reduce the price so someone does buy it.

If someone offered me double the price I listed my house for, should I say, oh, no, that's too much and sell it for the listing price?

Only if I'm a goddamn fool.

Why should it be any different for a dealer?

I will not feel sorry in two years when cars values drop 50% and all these people are so upside down on their loans. The worst ones are the ones that bought 3-4 year old cars for the price of new ones. They will be so far upside down on their car and the warranty expired years ago.
If they're wealthy and can drop the extra money, they won't care.

If they're not, and they pay the extra money because they have to have that truck RIGHT NOW then, yeah, they're going to lose out big time.

And I don't feel sorry at all for them.

Market economy, bishes.

I understand supply and demand, blah, blah, blah. But it just seems to me current market conditions are a case of, "Just because you CAN charge $12,000 over sticker doesn't mean you SHOULD." My opinion.

My opinion is also that someday, after the current market insanity has passed, many people will remember the dealers who took advantage while they could and will go out of their way to take their business elsewhere. At least I know I will...
Ford corporate has repeatedly told these dealers not to be ridiculous in their pricing... they go around the decent way by putting a couple of miles on the vehicle and selling it used for a stupid high price... disgusting..yes I agree..we will remember and not give them the business
