Another person who doesn't understand what MSRP is an abbreviation for.

I understand MSRP very well but you may be unfamiliar with legal ramifications of false advertising. If you advertise something for a certain price such as on national TV advertising and consumer’s actual final cost to obtain goods is 10% to 30% higher there is something wrong. The used car market will be the wild Wild West Fake Cowboy. Dealers can charge whatever they want. New car selling model will change. Just look at Tesla and Fords new EV vision. Fords EV vision will require all dealers to change or not have access to sell EV’s

Haha, false advertising? Okay, you are definitely not a lawyer and you need to look up the definition of the word SUGGESTED, you know, what the "S" stands for in MSRP.

I suggest you go try and hire a lawyer to sue Ford and the dealers. Good luck with that.

Had 4 salesmen call me today regarding a Maverick XLT. First began with $5k over msrp of $29k. Then $7,500, and then $10,000. We finished out at $42,700 and I laughed at them and requested to be placed on the do not call list. Some smart person went in there and paid like $12k over asking shortly there after. People really need to stop paying these prices. 🙄
The value of any item is what a willing buyer and seller agree to. The market price is more than MSRP because there is greater demand than supply. That is why they are calling it market rate adjustment.

However, if you had a contract at MSRP, the dealer should honor that price.

Sure they will, so what is the problem? There is absolutely zero love lost for car dealerships from me, but that doesn't lessen my confusion for these posts. This is one of the foundations of our economic system. Yep, sometimes some people will pay more (their choice), but it eventually corrects and balances out - do you have a better system?

While the cost of these vehicles, to them, has not necessarily risen, keep in mind these dealerships are experiencing extreme inflation in their operating costs just like consumers are and the lack of inventory makes their business much more difficult. Even if that weren't the case, I never badmouth businesses that seek max profit - I invest in them. I'd be a complete hypocrite if I whined about these practices while simultaneously owning stock in thousands of these businesses.
Wtf ! You should try to find your soul, then re-read your post. What utter nonsense!

Just like them honest oil companies do eh? If you want it you have to pay.
So convenient how "corporate greed" stops and starts depending on who is in office.

I hope the morally superior anti-greed do-gooders don't have any money invested in the market.

Could be a variety of ways. Perhaps driving further to do business's with a less convenient dealer that treats customers with fairness. Or delaying a purchase from one dealer who might have what you want on the lot to give another dealer the opportunity to secure the vehicle I'm looking for.

Basically boils down to "voting with my dollars" by not supporting businesses that don't treat you well -- even if that causes you a hardship. That's going out of your way to take your business elsewhere.

Having a fundamental understanding of capitalism doesn't make me soul-less, it makes me not a moron. That's fine if you think capitalism is bad, but in that case maybe you should find another country to live in. Please tell me how you can justify whining about this, yet investing in these companies (in hopes they experience ever-increasing profits) at the same time? I am personally incapable of that level of cognitive dissonance.

Because I have a fundamental understanding of capitalism, I don't have a soul?
See there's your problem! It's right there in your response!

I will not feel sorry in two years when cars values drop 50% and all these people are so upside down on their loans. The worst ones are the ones that bought 3-4 year old cars for the price of new ones. They will be so far upside down on their car and the warranty expired years ago.

I lived in New California i.e. AZ, and we had some big fires that people had to evacuate from. All the local hotels/motels shot up exponentially in price. The evacuees had no choice but to pay. Supply and demand amirite...

I love watching some of you folks justify this type of crap by a dealership. Please remember your justification of this in the coming months. It's going to be a bumpy ride.
If you own a house, I suspect you wont hesitate to get the highest price if and when you go to sell it. No matter how high the price.
