Keyless entry for XL question. 2023 order

Hello. I've been trying to pre plan my 2023 XL order. I would like to add the key less entre feature. However when I option it, it shows up as a dealer accessory and the details show "no-drill installation".

I get every option I add on could reduce the chance of being built. Anyone know more details about this option? Does it just glue onto the door?

Look like its just a big key fob type device. It gets programmed from your key fob and then they just glue it to the truck.

Yes, it just sticks on with very strong tape. Same with all the other keyless entry pads on the Maverick.

Oh wow, just tape?. I wonder if it could be placed in a better location like inside the bed or hidden somewhere

I'd like one that goes on vertical so I could put it on the door pillar but I can't seem to find one.

Frankly too lazy to go look but there's at least one thread about keypads with various entries about where people have placed them.

Oh, do take note there are two separate part numbers - one for vehicles without factory remote start (like the XL) and a different one for vehicles with factory remote start.

The wireless keyless entry pad is horizontal mount only. No vertical option available. The old models without the little LED indicator light above 9 - 0 was easily programed doing the on-off-on ignition switch program. The later ones from 2014 or so require programming from the dealer which costs around $100 bucks or so on top of the keypad. Some may know someone who has the proper tool to do it and save $$$ but for the rest of us it is an expensive proposition.

The keypad can be places anywhere you want. Some put it inside the gas door if that would work on the Maverick. Others inside the bed but that would be not so handy with a Tonneau. I saw a Bronco the other day with one in the usual boring spot above the door handle.

If you’re using it as a emergency entry to get in car just either put it in the rear cubby of the bed or stick a good magnet on the bottom and put it up under the bed rail behind the driver.

FYI the battery is not replaceable. You have the buy a whole new keypad unit when it needs to be replaced. The factory installed keypad is hardwired to the truck.

Oh wow. Is that the xlt that gets the hard wired?

Yes. XL is only trim that does not include a keypad.

I did manage to take mine apart on the Ranger twice to change the battery. First time I was successful. The second time for some reason I did something to the unit that caused a parasitic drain which caused the battery to go dead after a few days.

I wouldn’t let the battery thing stop me from getting one though. Just something to keep in mind. The battery should last quite a bit longer than a standard key fob battery does.

I have one of these sticky pads on my Fusion. The tape is strong as hell, you're not gonna lose it and the battery is meant to last something like 7 years I think? I've had mine for almost 6
