I couldn't find my keys. It was then that I realized I had thrown my jacket in the wash. It was just finishing. Sure enough, the keys were in the pocket! I took it apart and let it dry for a few days while I was on a trip. Thank goodness for 2 keys! I put it back together and it works fine!
Phew. I don't want to know what a new one costs.

When I had my Subaru, that fob got washed several times and still worked. One time it even went through the washer and the dryer and still worked!

Funny side story.i did this with my ram once.made it from the washer to the dryer.i was outside and my ram started by itself. Perplexed I shut it off.after it happened a cpl more times I realized the spare key was tumbling around in the dryer!

My Miata used a fat credit card sized remote, that could stay in my wallet. There was a simple plastic stub in the ignition.

And then one weekend, grabbing donuts at walmart, it fell out in the store.

Or so I thought.

I walked home with the donuts to get the other one.

Once the dust settled, it turned out that the first remote I had used had fallen under the carpet cover. With a very weak battery.

So I didn't have the key when. left that morning. It was just that the battery in the old remote had failed, but briefly rallied long enough for me to start the car without a key in my wallet. But it didn't have a second round in it.

That happened to me one time, took two showers one day and had to dry my hair. Later that day went to get a milk shake at Sonic got to end of the street and half my head tried to turn right the other half left.

It wasn't the exact same key but I sold a set of super duty keys to a customer and they were $160.00 each list price if my memory serves me right. That was before any programming.

ought two key fobs off eBay for my 22 and 23 Mavericks for less than $25 each. Took them to my dealer that programmed them for $60 each.

I bought the 22 and 23 Mavericks used and they only had 1 key so I’d no choice but take to locksmith or dealer for programming. Dealer was cheaper. All in it was like $90 each to buy key from eBay and get dealer to program.

Before the circuit board in there rusts and you have a dead fob - better get a 3rd fob/key made and registered with the truck while you can do it for free with programming.
