Wait, so when I finally get a Maverick in MY2028, I can't use a cool coily Lightning cord from Amazon? I'm gonna have to use a 9ft long Apple cord that doesn't even come with the phones anymore and have it lay all around my floorboard like some sort of weird kink leash?

I use a coily USBC to Lightning cord, works perfectly.


I think people are overreacting when saying only Apple OEM cords work. Plenty of non-Apple cords work, just be prepared to run across one that doesn't once in a while if you test your luck with really cheap ones.

EDIT: Also, note that any cord can be damaged and fail over time, so it's always good to have backup cords somewhere in your kingdom.

Word. My fusion doesn't even have sync so I'm unfamiliar with what will work and what won't. looking forward to plugging in and leaving my phone alone, just don't wanna deal with the same cord snake.

Apple CarPlay won't come on. Plugging in, using USB cable. But there is no power to the dash usb port, nor to the usb-c port either. iPhone and CarPlay works just fine in my other car. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Same experience with my EV Apple CarPlay. Once I grabbed an original cord I had no issues anymore.

Some of the cheap cords are charging cords only....They only have the wires to charge in them!

MYSTERY SOLVED! About my non-working CarPlay usb, usb-c ports: Dealer Service checked, and-the factory did'nt install the wiring harness to these ports! So, they ordered the harness to put in. Somebody didn't use the checklist...

As others have said about the cables, my first thought was make sure its an "APPLE CERTIFIED" cable or the one from Apple, they like to be finicky.
