Almost exactly one year after I bought my hybrid Maverick I got a warning of vehicle entering battery saver mode. Well I didn't think much of it at the time so I didn't go out and start it. The next morning I went out to get in it and there was nothing can't get you out of park can't take the emergency break off. So I called roadside assistance and he came out there with a jumper pack and got me started and I took it to the dealer hoping that they would give me a better battery. Got warnings of analog break not working in a few other things not working. They charged the battery and said it was fine. So I haven't had an issue yet and it's been a month. I just hate to this happen and I've been thinking about buying something else non-hybrid if it wasn't for the great gas mileage I definitely would.

The battery that starts the engine is a conventional car battery. It is independant of the hybrid battery. I have a '24 XLT hybrid. I love getting high 30s mpg. I have owned the Maverick for almost a year. From time to time I get a warning on the FordPass app on my phone that the battery is running low and the remote features will be temporarily suspended. I cannot understand how a vehicle that I drive EVERYDAY should have any issues with keeping the battery charged! In 50 years of driving I have never experienced this with ANY of my daily driver cars! In my opinion this a glaring defect that Ford should address ASAP! I don't know if this is a problem only on the hybrid Mavericks or on all Mavericks.

My solution for now is when I get the battery low warning, I'll attached a trickle charger to the battery and let it charge overnight. Its crazy that this is needed on a less than one year old vehicle!

Maybe get a jump starter and store it under rear seat. I've had that problem, but I still love this truck. Good luck

It seems to be mostly a problem with the hybrids. There are many Ecoboost owners, including me, who never have had a battery issue. I'm probably an exception to the norm though, as I do battery maintenance more than most people and carry a jump pack that I've never had to use.

I carry a combo jump/air compressor in my truck. I haven't had to use it. I should probably at least check the compressor! I got one because of having my RAV4 battery being dead twice in the first 2 weeks I had it. Toyota had a software update they applied and I haven't had any problems since. Not sure why Ford hasn't fixed this, or is there a recall on it?

You didn't know it was a Plug-in Hybrid?😂

You have one part backwards.
I boldfaced it above.

The 12v battery does not start a hybrid.
It only runs the electronics that allow the high voltage battery to start the engine.

I think you forgot the word "not". So I added it for clarity.

The hybrid battery starts the engine? I was not aware of that. Learn something everyday.
When I get the warning that the battery is running low is that warning about the 12V battery or the hybrid battery?

Even Plug-In Hybrids you don't have to plug-in for normal operation. Ford has somehow failed to acknowledge this poor BMS issue. They blame it on everything else they can before looking at their own failure to engineer a system that keeps up up with the demands of today's constantly connected vehicles. Maybe, if they were not so consumed with paying for the poor fuel mileage of some their vehicles with the balance of their offerings we would not have this situation. The CAFE dollars involved must be really large for Ford to absorb all the warranty costs associated here. It has been going on so long, it's difficult to think it's not intentional.

12v

Almost certainly the 12v.

We're not sure what happens in the reverse case, because it virtually never happens in the reverse with 4 yo and younger vehicles.

Now your example is a battery drain.

Hope everyone can see that.

You most likely had undercharged state also, and perhaps with long daylight hours haven't noticed lights turning off sooner and sooner on exit.

But not to the state it needed to turn off the modem for deep sleep mode and inform you.
You likely got that warning as it was being drained, last action of battery being run down.

Now - the question is - did the dealer follow the SSM-53801 for the intermittent battery drain - and update the ACCM?
They did the recharge, and battery test (hopefully the full one), and patted you on the back out the door perhaps suggesting you drive it more.

But that SSM now says to update the ACCM software.

Since summer - are you in the habit of leaving the AC in whatever state you used it when turning truck off for final park?

oh yeah - much cheaper to buy a jump-pack then a new truck.
easier to help others and yourself.
