I have a 2024 Ford Maverick Hybrid I had issues with the battery going into sleep mode. I took it to the dealer they tested the battery it was fine they recharged it. Apparently I wasn’t driving it enough to charge the battery I ended up buying a smart battery 2 amp trickle charger I connected it from the terminal under the hood you don’t want to directly connect it to the battery I’ve been doing this every other day especially since it’s gotten colder so far I’ve had no more issues . There is a separate thread that talks about hooking up a trickle charger I connected.I was all ready to take my 22 mavie to dealer today, was growing weary of the battery issue, and went out to the garage and you guessed it, it wouldn
't start. First time for that....so called in the calvary (roadside assistance) to jump start her...after starting, went right to dealer, they checked the battery and said it was no good...(this is the second battery I have gotten)...so brand new battery...thank goodness for warranty! Fingers crossed..
ThisI don't think it's the battery choice as much as Ford's management strategy of the battery; i.e. the forthcoming software update.
Some EB owners report their auto-start/stop no longer working - then again it seems many don't want it to anyway.Sorry for not having followed this issue, but is it unique to hybrids? If not, I will count my blessings.
When my auto start/stop quits working, I top off the battery with my battery tender connected overnight, then it works for a couple weeks or so. Rinse and repeat. Some EB owners report their auto-start/stop no longer working - then again it seems many don't want it to anyway.
That is a battery saving feature.
And some EB owners report the deep sleep notices outside the expected 14 days non-driven.
Seems perhaps the AGM's in EB are better made, or hasn't gotten to the point for the problem yet.
Though there was a group of EB's that got the FLA batteries - those had issues.
I'd bet that's one of the 1st things to get disabled as battery goes too low. When my auto start/stop quits working, I top off the battery with my battery tender connected overnight, then it works for a couple weeks or so. Rinse and repeat.
Ok, now besides the 25MY, I'm curious about the BMS tag on these EB models. (side note - this is a driving safety level recall with stop demos/sales until performed)I'd suggest level set expectations for what's coming in Q1 for software update.
Bad rumor has gotten around as to what it's fixing.

The actual issue the software solution is for. A battery drain, as the OP had, no start issue.

Some 2022-2024 Maverick vehicles equipped with 2.5L full hybrid electric vehicle (FHEV) powertrain may experience an intermittent 12V battery drain condition when the ignition is turned off. If the 12V battery drains, perform a 12V power reset to the vehicle by disconnecting the 12V battery negative cable for 5 minutes. Fully charge the 12V battery and use the Rotunda GRX-3590 or DCA-8000 tester to determine if replacement is needed. If replacement is needed, fully charge the new battery and perform a battery monitor sensor (BMS) reset. Engineering is currently working on a software solution for this condition that is expected in the first quarter of 2025.
Contrast that one with this one which is about a parasitic draw.
They use specific words for specific cases which mean specific things.

Some 2021-2024 Bronco vehicles may exhibit a parasitic battery draw. This may be due to an interior door lock switch on the driver's and passenger's interior door panels. Prior to normal Workshop Manual (WSM) diagnostics, check both front door lock control switches for damage and/or proper operation. If a front door lock control switch does not operate as designed, repair as necessary. If no problems are found, continue with normal WSM diagnostics. For claiming, use causal part 14028 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. If the draw is still present, refer to WSM Section 414-00 for normal diagnostics.h
Vast majority of issues being reported is batteries just slowly degrading until the system does what it does so you can still start it.
And a degraded battery suffers problems easier, lose a cell, get sulfated - so normal battery reaction from say an alternator system that has been undercharging for awhile - takes a nose dive quickly at the end.
ETA: would love a closeup picture of the BMS hanging on the 2025 battery negative post.
I think it's actually a recall? If so you should get it post warranty.Got my THIRD warranty battery last month, 3/36 runs out in less than 3 weeks - I figure I will need to PAY for this software update, since I will be past the 3 years - hope they make it a Customer Satisfaction Program...
Intersting. I still have an 06 Mazda 6, made on the same line as those Fusions, and it has been fine for the 11 years since I got it. Just turned 180k miles.Ford has been throwing new batteries at faulty electrical systems for a couple decades now. I had 2 Fusions (not even hybids) an '07 and a '10. They both went thru 3 batteries , under warranty. I didn't keep either one long enough for them to be out of warranty. Seems as if the "techs" at the dealership can't fix things like parasitic battery drains, they just throw up their hands and put a new battery in. "All fixed", they exclaim. Until the next dead battery. I pity the future owners who bought the cars out of warrranty.
Thanks for the info. Did they install the battery? If so additional price?I’ve had excellent luck tbh with Duracell platinum agm batteries from Sam’s club. Goes on sale often too. Mine is $170 or soemthing like that, when they do $20 off battery sale. Not including the 10-15 dollar core charge refund
I don’t know who actually makes it, but I like them, been putting them in all our vehicles none died yet.
