We should be talking about a high RPM "Whaaaaa" loud, that is normal when cold. If it's Diesel as in low growl, not good, IMO. Go ahead and read the 1st and last pages. Engine Damper.

I will be paying more attention to when it does this. I have heard it sounds like that video, but its not always doing it. Only rarely. I have 10k miles since March with it. When it was new I had it give that lurch feeling after starting. It may be that damper piece sometimes sticks or something.

May depend on temperature of the truck, hills, gas pedal. You may notice that the engine does not get "faster" the way other cars do- it may stay the same RPMs or not, depending on load.

Me: 24 Lariat hybrid = it seems a little louder when cold. Unrelated, I find if I use 91 octane the engine is a little quieter but not worth the cost difference.

Have you checked the insulation pillow in the fender about where the emblem is? I installed side marker lights and had to push it out of the way, forgot to relocate the insulation to it's full height. I noticed an immediate increase in engine noise. Use something soft like a long wooden paint stir stick to reposition the insulation if you need to.
Everything looks good on the insulation.

I tend to notice it a little more when it first kicks on in the morning. Other than that, I really don't notice it.

"Loud" is not the term I would use......'Different" for sure would be my take-kind of diesel-like , I guess attributed to the Atkinson cycle engine. I do enjoy the difference from my other cars-starting out nice and quiet in full electric mode constantly reminds me that I can smile as I drive past the gas stations-300 miles on 1/2 tank of gas-that's what I'm talking about :)

Thoughts:
Does your hybrid Lariat have the correct acoustic windshield that is unique to the Lariat trim? [Just trying to consider various factors]

Or, depending what other vehicle you drive, are you expecting too much?

I find my hybrid Lariat to be as quiet as any other vehicle I have owned and quieter than the 2016 GMC Canyon V6 that I sold to purchase my Mav.

I’m not saying it is louder than some other vehicles I’ve owned. The question was if anyone else’s get louder as it warms up. All other cars and trucks I’ve owned got quieter as they warmed up. It does have the original windshield. My friend’s XLT is much quieter. I’m taking about lots of engine noise during acceleration. Should I be concerned?

I have a 24 Lariat hybrid. On acceleration sometimes the engine is quiet and sometimes it is really loud. Seems to be louder when fully warmed up. Has anyone else noticed this?
On one occasion I thought there was a diesel around me and it turned out to be my Maverick. One of the mysteries of owning

Engine noise when accelerating is highly dependent on RPM which is highly dependent on battery state of charge. Sometimes normal acceleration will be at 1800 RPM, sometimes it will be at 2500 RPM. These naturally sound very different.

You are stating that your friends XLT is much quieter, but my question is - how many miles have you spent driving the other truck? If you did not drive more than 20-30 miles it is unlikely that you spent enough time in the seat to get an accurate reflection of the variety of RPMs these will be at during normal acceleration.

The first acceleration/start of the day is quite often much quieter... unless your High Voltage battery is at a low state-of-charge. Then it paradoxically is often the loudest acceleration of the day.
