Very loud engine at startup at cold temperature

Outside temperature 19 Fahrenheit.
As you hear in the video the car sounded very loud as something was not right. What can that be?the rpm were low.
After engaging the reverse gear, the vehicle got quiet and I had no problem driving afterwards.

Remote started and for how long? Or just idling with the heat on? And have you had the emissions recall reprogramming done or any other reprogramming such as to address grabby brakes, etc.?

I had the same thing happen when it was cold out and I turned on the heat while in park. Smarter people on here than me assuaged my fears. I just wait until I’m driving to turn the heat on. I realize that is not realistic for people in some locations.

...I don't think this is relevant at all. OP's engine has not catastrophically failed, nor has it given any inidication it will do so.

We really have no idea what valve or ignition timing strategy that causes this noise, but it appears to be related. I personally think it is just a little bit of gear chatter from the planetary gearbox that we call the eCVT.

As you noticed @Peps it went away as soon as there was torque applied to the drivetrain and any lash in the system was taken up. It is also possible that due to the cold weather your truck was in a "warm up idle" state at 1500 rpm instead of 1250. I.... wouldn't lose any sleep over it. YMMV.

It is known that the fuel/air strategy changes during prolonged remote start/idling where the HVB reaches full charge. That was what prompted TSB 22-2124.

Engine damper sticking / chattering.
I'd bet the ranch on it.
I have heard this many times and from many owners. (Including my own before it was replaced under warranty.)

It can happen at any time at any temperature. Just recently seeing more posts about this in cold weather.

Maybe lubrication hardens.
Maybe thermal shrink exacerbates this.

thank you all for all the replies the car was started remotely and after really a couple of minutes I decided to drive off because the sound was really loud and I did not want to keep going. I had no problem whatsoever for days and days of usage after the event. I had the oil changed at the Ford dealership maybe few hundreds miles before, I did not have any recall done for this vehicle. Maverick build date in late Oct 2022.
I would check the grabby break, that is a manageable issue but annoying.
