The XLT trim level is the sweet spot for the Maverick. It's a good compromise for an inexpensive truck.
Having said that, I went with a Lariat.
I'm 70 and decided to, for the first time, buy a vehicle with all the bells and whistles.
Usually, I prefer a cloth interior, but I like the lariat's leather interior/colors more than the XLT interior.
A lot of people shit on the lariat interior colors, but I actually quite like the desert brown or whatever it's called. The sea of blue I'm not as big a fan of (would have preferred dark gray or something) but I've read a lot of impressions saying it's more muted and dark in person so I'll live with it

I have two hybrid orders in different dealerships. One is for a Lariat and one for an XLT. My XLT is likely to be scheduled and produced first, but I’m really liking the interior look of the Lariat better. My internal debate now is: is the Lariat worth the $3K extra? Do any of you have insight on why you chose Lariat over XLT or Lariat over XLT?

Also, if I upgrade the trim of my XLT, has it been anyone’s experience that doing this will delay the build? I have no constraints on my build as it stands, outside the hybrid engine of course.
IMO, no. Best truck for money is XLT, for me at least. If XL had cruise, I'd be getting that instead. My order: XLT hybrid, Oxford white, 120v in cab, hitch, full size spare, air deflectors.

But if you like it, I'm not gonna yuck your yum. You do you.

I made a list on both trims, XLT & Lariat with and without Lux.
The Lariat Luxury Package checked all my boxes on what I was looking for. So for me the extra $$$$ is worth it. Going less just to save $$$$ would not have made me happy down the road.
Bottom line is you have to decide What You Want!
Best of luck to you.

Leather W/O ventilated seats in Florida. Sorry no.

In my opinion, the best value is the XLT with Lux.

But I went Lariat Lux for the extra features, not because I "need" them, but because I've been driving a 2002 Accord for years. Rock solid car but it's 20 years old and light on features.

Personal choice, I went with the XLT Lux, gave me everything I wanted or need. The only thing on the Lariat was the adaptive cruise. But we have that on my wife's explorer that we need for trips, so it's not worth the extra $4k for the upgrade on the Mav that will be my daily drive in and around town where I almost never use cruise.

They're not leather.
Whats in a Lariat then? I sat in one seemed like vinyl or leather. Either way W/O ventilated seats nope.

The Maverick (especially the hybrid) is not an expensive vehicle at any trim level.
I'm at a point in life, as several others have stated, where I could opt for the premium trim without a big reach. In fact, I started with the Lariat order and moved to the XLT. The more I thought about it, the XL was looking good. I got a schedule week before changing, so I stuck with the XLT. I think it will suit me fine, although truthfully, the XL may have as well.

Vinyl - albeit a premium simulated leather trademarked ActiveX.

Per Ford:
ActiveX is a high-end synthetic seating material designed to fit your active lifestyle. It is easier to clean, resistant to staining, and more durable than leather while maintaining a premium look and feel over time. ActiveX does not include any animal-based material.

Too hot for anywhere in the South in my opinion.

Was tempted by the Lariat for the exact same reason. Went with the XLT Lux AWD because it's the sub-30K truck we need that also doubles as something we can take up north in the winter.

Agree !

Awesome no animal based material. So if stranded in the desert I can't eat the seats to survive.

That is a strictly personal choice.

It was for me. I’ve ordered two and have received one of them. 😁

It's worth it to me because I never in my life want to fumble around for my keys. My current and my previous vehicles both have/had magic start buttons, and I'll never go back to keys if I can avoid it. The inclusion of stuff like heated seats and those awesome technical safety features are a big plus for me, but I honestly filtered out any and all trucks without a start button from the get go.

My XLT LUX shows cruise (old school not adaptive cruise like lariat has)!
