I'm an awful lot more mindful of people who just got their license than someone who has been driving for over 60 years. It shows in the insurance rates as well as accident rates.

Data kind of paints a different picture with rates of those 70 and older on par with 16-30 years old's with those in the 85> range having the worst rates of all age demographics.

Older drivers only appear safer in the aggregate because there is less of them on the road.

If it is totalled, id take the check from the insurance if its driveable, drive it for a few years then sell it again for more money.

They total it, deduct the salvage value, you get a check and keep the vehicle. Drive it as long as you want, then sell it with a salvage title. Ibdid this with our dodge caravan after hitting a deer. Drove it 5 years after it was totaled and recently sold it.

That "Poor Mav" Probably needs more than a "bit of bondo" and some rubbing compound...
What is remarkable, is that the passenger compartment appears intact after being hit on both ends diagonally...

I doubt the passengers even needed band-aids if they wore their seat belts.

For the OP, if only the truck had the fully automatic laser cannon option installed....

And the spare tire still appears intact.

Was at my local pay n spray yesterday afternoon cleaning up my ride for the work week when I heard someone screaming behind me. I turned around to see a lady in her 70's trying to physically stop her Lexus SUV as it was rolling directly towards me and my basically new 25 Mav.
I yelled at her multiple times to get out of the way as I was running to jump in her Lexus but she panicked and I literally watched her get crushed between the Mav and her Lexus.

I backed off the Lexus immediately and sat her down while I called 911 and somehow, amazingly, she was not injured.

I've filed the claim with insurance and am waiting for a tow truck to come haul the Mav to my local Ford dealer but I wanted to share a few pics of my Tommy-Boyed Mav to see what the community thinks. Is it a total loss?

Hopefully you received an event ID from the local police department and you're only working with her insurance company.

The others are probably right in it not being totaled, but I'm not confident about that without some measurements. Glad everyone is okay and hope it goes the way best for you.

Yes, one key question you may want to ask the collision shop is if there’s anything considered “structural damage” because that changes the entire picture. If you google the definition of structural damage, you’ll find that It includes a lot more than just a bent frame rail.
