Was at my local pay n spray yesterday afternoon cleaning up my ride for the work week when I heard someone screaming behind me. I turned around to see a lady in her 70's trying to physically stop her Lexus SUV as it was rolling directly towards me and my basically new 25 Mav.
I yelled at her multiple times to get out of the way as I was running to jump in her Lexus but she panicked and I literally watched her get crushed between the Mav and her Lexus.

I backed off the Lexus immediately and sat her down while I called 911 and somehow, amazingly, she was not injured.

I've filed the claim with insurance and am waiting for a tow truck to come haul the Mav to my local Ford dealer but I wanted to share a few pics of my Tommy-Boyed Mav to see what the community thinks. Is it a total loss?

Nawww you’ll be alright.
This is why I have gap insurance, it’s so cheap.
$90 a year.

Ooh no sorry about your Mav. Glad everyone is ok. It's not a total loss by any means. No frame and unibody damage. The inner door damage you highlighted can be repaired. Hard to tell by the pics but it looks like 2 doors and hinges a fender and some bedside work blend the paint. Not to bad. Get some estimates from a few different shops. Your Mav will be like new again. Good Luck!

You have a new car replacement clause in your insurance? Is it GAP coverage, or both?

BOTH !

But only out to five years old from new, just like my Ford extended warranty.
I will trade In Before those expire.

Works out to $41 a month for sixty months,
Just over the cost of 3/4 tank of premium.
My Daddy didn’t raise no fool. :XD

It's gonna be totally covered by the lady's insurance and my initial thought is to have Ford do the repair. It will probably take longer than a non-Ford collision shop but I want it done right.

That's great! A Ford shop or an independent shop is fine. Most body shops these days are backed up waiting on parts and insurance. Using a Ford shop does not necessarily mean the work will be better or faster. Word of mouth and reviews are helpful.

eh 'she's not injured' - hopefully that was some follow up she gave you after she went to the hospital - internal injuries which are highly probable with 'woman sandwiched between two vehicle' events might not show symptoms for days as internal bleeding can be a slow process. As to your truck - nah, insurance isn't going to total that but after it's fixed you need to make absolute certain (hose that door down multiple times) that there aren't any leaks before you sign off on anything...

Yep you can replace a truck but not a life.
Oh absolutely Im going to have them water test it before it leaves the shop. My 22 Mav was one of the infamous "leakers" and im not going through that again.

Any chance of getting the surveillance video from the car wash operator? For, ummm, insurance purposes?
