I am picking up my 26 Maverick Lariat hybrid today. Allstate gives me 14 days to insure this, the price will go up over $100 a month while going down in coverage. Here is what the proposal is

Moving collision from $500 to $1k
Moving comprehensive from $0 to $250
Dropping uninsured motorist from $250/500k to $100/300k or $50/100K

all of this comes out to $374 a month

Anyone using other companies that might be less?

Get some online quotes real quick. I am sure you can save some cash unless your driving history is bad.

What’s that insurance commercial on tv where they say that they will find you your best rate? Progressive?

If I was looking, I’d call them.

I’ve been a loyal USAA customer since 1977. They have all of my business. Insurances, banking, etc…

If you're former military, or you have parents/spouse who were in the military or are currently in USAA - USAA is an obvious schoice.

USAA is nonprofit. They distribute any surplus income back to members annually (assuming no catastrophic insurance losses). For me, that's usually 300+ dollars given back each fall. And since I'm "of a certain age", they also mail me an annual check in late winter - slowly returning my portion of their reserve fund that has built up over 50 years of membership. That's usually $1,000+.

Yep Maverick insurance is high. I went from 2025 Escape to 2025 Maverick. $70/month more same coverage! 😱

Raise your deductible to the max after you set that much aside, you will make it up in no time. If you can’t you probably should have gotten a better job before buying a new vehicle.

Monthly payments will always cost the consumer more. I get if you can’t afford a lump sum yearly payment I get it, but $4488 a yr is nuts! If you have good credit and a good driving record try Amica. USAA if you or family member have served.

up the deductible for both and unless you own the vehicle I don’t think you can drop un/under insured.

I guess my question is what level is your Bodily Injury and Property Damage coverages?
And when comparing, make sure all the quotes have the same coverage levels.
There's lots of crazy expensive vehicles out on the road now days if an accident is your fault, and society loves to sue, so CYA. I also keep a 2 million dollar Personal Liability Umbrella policy as additional CYA, there actually not that expensive.
