Installed supplemental backup lights

Besides replacing the stock incandescent back up lights with LEDs, I wanted more illumination when backing up, so I installed these inexpensive floods. They're touted on Amazon on being fog/driving lights, but for the price I doubt they are properly aligned for fogs. I used the original screw bolts on the underside of the bumper so no drilling or any other modification was required other than tapping into the wiring (green/brown by the way). I do want to post a caution on the install design of these lamps . . . absolutely horrendous. You'll need dental tools or other detail tools and lots of patience. Most likely there are better designed lamps on Amazon, but these were leftovers from a friend. Here's the link if interested.

Nice looking @Dad. Wonder how long they will last down there. My guess in SoCal you might be OK, but up here in snow/salt country - maybe not.

Very true. That was definitely on my mind throughout the entire install. I had these on my Colorado and still have them on my motorhome both with much higher ground clearance. Would most likely look for a way to incorporate into the rear bumper if I lived near you. I should also mention that I do get enough lighting without these when using the rear backup camera. However, sometimes the tailgate position will not allow the camera to see and so I'll need the extra illumination.

Could you give me (us) a little more detail on what issues that you ran into that caused the install to be horrendous?

Gladly.
If you look to where the light attaches to its bracket you'll see two allen screws and two nuts. You have to place the nuts into the slot and somehow hold them in place while you insert the screw and turn. They give you an allen wrench which is no longer than the light and makes it difficult to get a grip on it while you're holding the light to the bracket, holding the nut in place, holding the screw to the wrench and turning the screw. You'll need something tiny to hold the nut in place and a longer allen wrench so you have some grip. Takes a lot of patience as the nut keeps falling out. At one time I even superglued the nut to the housing.

SOCAL that works, up here north of the woodchucks road salt would eat those by lunch time. Personally, the LASFIT backups light up my backup camera surprisingly great.

I don't disagree with you! I have same Lasfits backup lights and they are very efficient when using the backup camera. There are times, though, when the tailgate is not in a position to use the camera. I'm sure the lights would be more vulnerable if I was doing any off-roading or lived where snow was prevalent.

Absolutely agree. When the tailgate is halfway opened, it might be good for hooking up to a trailer, but when it’s all the way down, I only get to look at earth.

I think the backup camera is the issue, as this it the worst one I have ever had on a new vehicle, so extra lights may be in my future.
