Instead of spending hundreds for the bed rail system that Ford sells, I went to Home Depot and spent less than $14 to put two of these in.

It's an M8 bolt and a medium duty D ring.

Caveat: it's only anchored on one side.

But for what I need, it'll do just fine.

Those are all nice but I wanted to get it done today. I wish they had a single hole one at Home Depot but they didn't

As the great philosopher Mick Jagger once said, "you can't always get what you want. But if you try, sometimes you get what you need "

Another thread said these holes are for three or four bolt rails to spead the load. That single bolt anchors may deform the bed side if too much load exerted.

Good to know.

I'm mainly going to use them for my elastic bed net so it shouldn't be a problem.

Well, for the OP, I’m sure the mount strap will bend and the ring will pull out before putting much force on the bed because only 1 of the 2 required bolts is being used...

Home depot does sell the diy bed rail system. Its in the electrical aisle. Its a holey channel. Add a few bolts and washers and some eyebolt anchors from the rope aisle and you are all done. Heavy duty, load spread, adjustable anchors. I think there is one of those Q-codes that show you the exact parts. No clue how to Q it though.

Be careful one single bolt will deform very easily and bend the sheet metal of your bed. The ford accessory and cheap aftermarket options (I used airline rail) are meant to evenly distribute the tension across a MUCH larger area with surface contact and multiple holes. Basically it’s just the threads of the bolt holding your load which will easily exponentially multiply as the load shifts during normal driving maneuvers.

It'll only be for light loads. I'm not planning on tying anything down that weighs more than a hundred pounds on these. For heavier loads, I'll use the ones the truck came with.

It's a duct tape and bailing wire solution but it works for what I need. If I need to go heavier I'll probably buy some M8 eyebolts. 🤷
