TY, I get this, but ... both the existence of RPM and its value tell the driver/operator quite a lot about what the ICE engine is doing.

Am I correct, then, to conclude that the ability to display RPM is NOT an ... available option ?
Yes, you can't display RPMs permanently on the factory dashboard. But you can add an extra display that gets its data through the OBD port and displays it continuously.

Such as one's phone via a BT OBD port adapter ???
Why not then to the Infotainment screen ?

Thanks! Very well explained.

I hit 100% yesterday..

some tool bag decided to "squeeze" in front of me. Then proceeded to go slower than the right lane traffic (Typical MA drivers). Ended up passing them on the right and even after I moved back to the right lane (thinking they might take the hint). The tool bag continued to go slower than the right lane while living in the left and others kept on passing on the right.

Every Maverick has a tachometer, including the hybrids. If you know where to look.

I'm curious, has someone worked out the corresponding power gauge to revs? What's 50% power? Is it 2,000 rpm, 3? That's the kind of thing I'm wondering.

Being an eCVT there would be no such correlation it seems.
I've seen around 2500 rpm from 30 to 60% when increased gently. I'm sure if I stepped on it for fast increase rpm might go up to 5500 like on merging.

So what is the reason the 12v battery is slow to charge, could it also be due to low gauge wires, or simply the PCM/ECU not knowing to charge it?

And then there's this Maverick power meter, which I've seen a few times in reviews. It implies 180kw, or ~ 240HP max....

That's a computer rendered image that was part of the Ford media packet pre-release. Hard to say how accurate/relevant it is.

When I first saw the post and explanations, it struck me the Forscan android app dashboard for PID on HEV Battery Amps I've seen sustain 48 A while in EV mode before the blue bar runs out and SOC hit's 30% remaining.
I have perfect slight highway downhill where just enough battery overcomes road/air friction for almost a mile, but it takes being at the top of the blue box /1st 10% tick for enough HP to do it - and that PID is saying 45-48 A, engine is off, no RPM, SOC is slowly decreasing from 70%.

I'm just wondering why a wire gauge limitation one direction (36A) would not be for the other direction (72A) which I've also sustained some braking with -60A on the reading for awhile on this exit.
You have discovered on your own a special operating strategy described elsewhere as "leaving home" or "leaving the mall" mode.

In RARE situations you get more EV amps:

ONLY before the first engine on of a fresh drive cycle and

ONLY if the HV battery is above ~65%.

Seems the truck really does not want to keep a higher than 65% charge so uses power twice as fast until HV battery drops below 65%. Ish. I've only seen this a few times.

So leaving home, (or leaving the mall) BEFORE the first engine kick-on, you get great EV power, but for a very short time... seconds.... not even a full minute.
It will then taper.... 50A 40A, etc. as you witness the blue bar shrink.

The blue bar in EV coach DOES indicate how many amps you can pull.

I'll calibrate that next. 😎

Actually some other threads have shown that on non-US models at some point, with their Trip 1 showing so current info. I recall one saying Canada.

In which case it is like those speedometers that are willing to show speeds well beyond obtainable either realistically or with governor limit. Love how many cars show 160 mph.
That's a much bigger stretch of the imagination than 191 to 240 HP.

Possible.... but only keeps it for that key cycle. You have to hold the OK button each time you start the truck, then cycle a few clicks, I forget how many.

It doesn't look rendered, given the faint reflected images, and in any case, the calibration markings must have been considered in prototypes--again assuming that no other Ford has this exact same dash config-- before settling on % for production.

Given that, it is reasonable to suspect the Maverick power meter may represent some algorithm of combined torque and horsepower, representing an equiv kw of output. It is unlikely representing both peak or average power in absolute metrics, when the meter remains pegged at 100%. In other words, the meter is likely highly manipulated and at best a relative indicator.

Some dyno runs would clarify what the actual wheel torgue and derived horsepower are, as compared to the power meter. Surprised no one has done that in 4 model years.
