Good day, @MaverickDragon

That is the problem, when evaluating and trying to discern if the hole was incurred as part of subject fuel leak incident, or if the hole as seen in the protective plastic covering is only incidental, and not related (evaluating at a distance is difficult).

Only a hands on examination and comparison between the leaking fuel line (and the root cause of that line leaking) and the hole could possibly answer that query.

That is why my recommendation for a report to be made, that an inspection by an authority could make that decision. And see if there is concerns to be addressed (with the fuel line), or not.

As Glen said, the line may have been changed (specification wise), or the extra zip tied protective sleeve was added, as an solution to an unknown (to us) issue.

We now wait of the OP to return and update us on what happened/what repairs/any conclusions were affected and if they got the new line like we have on the 2025+ trucks!

Have a nice day,

Andy
I agree.
Unless / until there is more information and a root cause, or at least an assessment is made, it's all conjecture.
It appears to have happened at least twice, so I wonder what the result was in the former case...

You are thinking what I am thinking...we can put forward our thoughts, but that is why there is a process available for reporting possible defects.

Where all the pertinent info can be collected and analyzed to see if there is a real problem. Or hopefully not!

Have a good one,

Andy

Hmmm - MattTX has his 24MY plugged in too directly to bracket, riding lower.
You had any work done on yours in that area?
The bracket plug is there.
I'm not sure if you were asking me or the other poster, the only work I've had done to my Maverick was fixing a couple of badly installed interior panels (which the dealership also did poorly) and an oil change that I did myself.

I can take more photos from other angles if anyone is would like. I did those two quickly just trying to show an overview and then a little closer on the one side that others had been posting about.

I replied to Glenn.
Compare his picture and how the line is attached to the bracket between yours.

Ok Guys, the truck is back with a new fuel line. I didn't want to post anything online while my truck was at the dealership. This was a warranty claim, and I had a tow and a loaner that I didn't want to be denied. The new fuel line looks alot like the original line. The only thing that looks different is, the bend at the firewall looks like it is higher over the EGR sensor than the old one. I have studied the pics everyone has posted (thank you members!) and it seems like the line was running close to that EGR sensor bracket. That is raw metal, and the line looks close to it. That is also where they added extra insulation on the 25-26.

BTW the crack in the line was about an inch more toward the firewall than the hole in the insulating cover. I really wanted to tell you guys that, but I didn't want to mess up my warranty claim.

I have some fresh pics of the new fuel line. Spoiler alert, no added insulation. I may add my own on this line soon.

P.S. this whole thing cost me $100 deductable (extended warranty) and the tow is still being scrutinized. They (Ford) say they will only cover $100 for the tow. My tow cost me $205 because I had a third party company tow it. I asked the dealer if they had a tow service whan I originally called, and was told no. Therefore I used a third party. When I picked the truck up, I asked about re-imbursement and he said they (the dealer) would not re-imburse for a third party, and I would have to go through Ford. He gave me a number to call, and I am in the process of getting my money back.

Here are the pics.
