Hybrid fuel mpg

Drove my 2024 Hybrid maverick 200 miles today It has 950 miles on it now. Drove most of it at 80mph. I got a average of 34.8mpg.
Is this normal for a hybrid with under 1k miles?

That's about what I was getting. On the highway the hybrid bit isn't really doing anything but the ICE can opperate in the more efficient Atkinson cycle so a bit better than a conventional engine.

Almost everyone's displayed "computer" MPG is 5% higher than reality.

This has been my experience.

I have actually been really impressed with my HWY mpg on my hybrid. I can usually get around 38 if I'm going about 80. The worst I have had was 33 I believe and I was going 85 with lots of strong wind.

Obviously not every time do I get these MPG's but in general over 80% of the time I get high 30's.

My 2024 hybrid has averaged 42.76MPG trough 19,000 miles calculated at the pump using the Fulio app.

That's really high fuel usage for a Hybrid, unless you're doing a lot of high-speed highway. My 23 gets around 5.1 on the highway and usually under 4.0 in the city. Perhaps its because of the break-in oil...

How much remote starting and/or pre-heating / defrosting do you do?

Keep the cabin a nice 77°F / 25°C?

What kind of outdoor temperatures do you see? C or F is ok.

My 2024 hybrid at last fill up got 42 miles per gallon. Most of my miles are around town very little highway.

It just felt like a good trip today.
Hit many green lights in a row.
Once I got my speed up to the limit or 3 over was able to "glide" for a really long time.

With +/- 20 stoplights, how many greens you get to roll through can be the difference between 44 MPG and apparently 60 MPG. My best yet on this route. This was the doorstop route.
Up to 760 feet rapidly (in 2.5 miles) then about 16 to 18 miles of gradual downhill. Almost all downhill is EV.

No meaningful elevation change. If anything, ending point is slightly higher by a few feet.

I agree. After a few weeks of tinkering with my commute I found definite sweet spots where I could go all electric by just making small changes. A few days there was construction and I'd usually be annoyed, but that just made for more electric miles. Today I managed to baby it from the gas station to the grocery store without even having the engine come on. Not far, but something you think about that you never would with an all gas motor. Long highway trip, set it and forget it.

On a related note, I have noticed over the years that almost all of my vehicles would get the EPA highway mileage even at 75mph, which is interesting since the tests were (at least at one time) based on 55mph and you always hear about fuel mileage dropping with increased speed.

The only exception was my beloved '06 Honda Ridgeline where the MPG would dip below the EPA figure by 1 or 2 mpg if I got it over about 72mph, but the Ridgeline was a brick. However, our '98 Suburban was a brick also, but still got the EPA 15pmg at 75 mph.

It might be interesting to drive at lower highway speeds to see if the Maverick MPG on the highway would get above the 33-35 that the computer shows at 75 or so, but I'm not interested in saving a few bucks to drive for an hour or more longer on road trips.

I've only had the Maverick on one long road trip across TN to VA and back. MPG was 32 going up, 33 for the "middle tank" (half the tank there, other half coming back) and 35 on the return tank. Speed was 75 or so with the cruise set.

Totally Normal. As indicated, if you just puttered around at 25-40 mph all day you would be getting over 40 mpg. On the highway all the time, mid 30's.

You could get more. I picked up my 23 ( l am assuming your 24 in FWD NOT 4WD) in Miami and out of the box drove to L.A. where l live. Driving never less than 70 to 80, except for local visits to friends at a few stops on my way, l averaged 37+ or -.
I actually don't believe i break in periods. I think you break it in the way you drive. Driving hybrid is a bit of an art, coasting, getting off the gas early before lights, etc. You could have done a bit better, althoigh l would say once you get into.the 80mph range, the drop in mpg, is much more precipitous.
