For a year now I thought I was driving in eco mode since I selected that mode in the beginning. I was thrilled with my 42.3 overall mpg! Thanks to this great group I recently learned I was mistaken and need to select eco every time I start my truck (what a painšŸ˜–). I was sure selecting eco mode wouldn’t make any difference so I decided to test my theory.

I drive 6 miles every day to walk at a park so I drove in normal one day and eco another day. Yes, temps were different but I don’t think that would make a big difference. Same speeds and here are what I consider amazing results. I plan on driving in eco mode from now on, if I can remember to set it🫤 Maybe the difference is only this great in town so I plan on testing it out for my 454 mile trip in a couple weeks.

I've owned my hybrid now for 14 months, and I always place mine in Eco Mode, I've averaged 57 MPG last few fill-ups. The biggest difference is the Regen

Just think, over that period of time and such short distances, you could have saved maybe $9. Thanks to the Maverick hybrid, we do not see our friends at the gas pump much anymore.
You’re right about that! It takes one tank of gas or less for me to drive my longer trips so I get gas in SC or GA which is anywhere from $.25-.40 cents cheaper than FL. I do think I’ve bought gas in FL in over 9 months! while in FL I can do all my driving during the 2-3 weeks and still have enough gas to fuel up in GA on my way north! Gotta love our hybrid Mavericks!

I haven't used ECO mode much but have started to try it and have noticed that when I let off the gas the brakes grab a bit more. But as many has said....it's remembering to push the button each time that will be the biggest change in driving.

One would have thought that with a hybrid, having a "permanent" eco mode would be intuitive since most of us bought the hybrid for the MPG.

But, I'm sure like everything else, it's a cost trade-off and maybe some other feature was given a higher priority based on the cost constraints. Be nice if a software upgrade would fix things so it would stay in ECO mode when set.

You would think that since my 2013 Ford CMax didn’t require setting eco mode every time! I’m sure that’s the reason I assumed my 2022 Maverick worked the same way 🤣

I'm in Eco about 95% leaving my driveway, but 100% by the time I pull out of the gates of the community.

The ā€˜This Trip’ view as shown above is only - unfortunately - available in the Lariat with its 6 1/2 inch screen. (The XT and XLT only have a 4 1/2 inch screen which has fewer display options.)

I like This Trip information as it gives me instant feedback as to how efficiently I an driving my Mav hybrid; with this info, I can modify my driving behavior to increase mpg’s.

In my XLT I use Trip 1 as a substitute for the This Trip view. I reset Trip 1 every time I start my truck. Except for Electric miles, Trip 1, as I use it, gives me the same info as the This Trip display. (When I turn off the truck, I get electric miles anyway.)

I use Trip 2 to monitor mpg’s on a full tank of gas, or mpg’s on a trip if more than 1 fillup is required.

Hope this is helpful information.

I got spoiled with my CMax staying in eco mode so now I’m an old dog learning new tricks🤣

Not true, I have "This Trip" on my XLT. The graphics are as pretty.

I didn’t realize the difference since I just remember folks complaining about the cubby space and it should have been a bigger screen.

Since I see you have a hybrid CMax please correct me if I’m wrong in thinking I put it in eco mode the first time and didn’t have to change it every time. Mine was a 2013 which was 3 vehicles ago and 10 memory years!

I think Gary might need to go to his menu and add this screen. I didn’t realize I could add Trip 2 until I read one of these threads.
