Have had the 2025 Lariat Hybrid for a week. Can anyone recommend how I should be braking to ensure maximum MPG? Sometimes the braking coach says 100% returned other times as low at 64%. Not sure what I should be doing 🤷🏼‍♀️

Brake sooner so you have to apply less pressure. If you break late, resulting in breaking hard you won't get 100%. If you have a distant red light and nobody directly behind you, coast to slow down gradually then brake when getting close to the light if necessary.

note the dial to the left. don't bottom out in the regen zone because then the friction brakes engage. you accomplish this by more gradually coming to a stop as was mentioned.

Just throwing an edit here as someone pointed out my 2023 information doesn't apply to all mavs. Sorry, guys!

And don't be too hard on yourself. You're not gonna get 100 everytime. When I first got my Mav, I was like a coach on the sideline arguing with the ref: Whaddaya mean that wasn't 100%?!

Using the brake coach for how much space is available to press on the pedal and still be in regen mode - you'll get better sensitivity with foot.

ETA: EV Coach gives that range ability. Brake coach merely tells you how you did after stopped - limited usefulness after awhile.

You'll notice with coasting some of the space is already used for regen - you get the rest.

I am glad I am not the only one. I will get like a 99% or 98% and be like mate do you want to fight.

I do use Normal mode, but when things get technical, ECO mode has that control in the regen zone. Think traffic zones and mountainous roads, especially down mountains. Using ECO, you do have to move your seat forward and commit to modulating the throttle in the green zone and then apply brake when needed.

So planning ahead and braking earlier and easier have helped me a lot but another thing I have found helpful was having the ev coach thing on my display and using that to get a feel for the limits of regen. Of course don't look at the screen 100% when braking but just a quick look a few times has helped me a lot in better understanding how much you can brake. Lastly just keep messing around with it. I am at about 100 miles on my maverick and I am a lot better now then I was when I started just a few days ago.

Why do you folks using the EV coach not just use the dial on the left? It seems like it's easier to read it quickly or maybe without looking at all.

I do keep the EV coach up but I'm mostly using it to determine how much headroom I have before the ICE kicks on.

Also, what is that dial called? it's not a tachometer but it's sort of covering part of that job in an indirect way.
