I'd bet the doors being closed are part of the truck's structural integrity in the event of a crash, and to meet whatever standards are required.
So they have to minimize the chances of them opening accidentally.

David,
In all seriousness.
If having a heart attack while being in your Maverick with the doors locked is a concern for you.
You may want to have your doctor prescribe. 👇🏻👇🏻

They will give you time and probably save your life.

But it is funny that the only reason to have the auto door locks is to prevent one item car jacking. if that happens in my case ... a very small portion of reasons to have or have not

Might also be useful for keeping children from being able to open doors when they shouldn't.

Might also be useful to prevent someone from reaching in and stealing something out of the cab while you're fueling.

Might also have to do with collision/rollover integrity as mentioned earlier.

In any case, the auto-lock isn't rare. You're in precisely the same position as many, many American drivers with or without heart conditions. Personally I find the auto-lock useful, but if there is a way to disable it, I hope you find it.

He’s only had his Mav for a month, he’s just a pup, give it time and he’ll come over from the Dark Side! Just has to get used to all the new features. I’ve had mine for just over a year now and I’m still finding out new stuff thanks to the MTC.

This might be the single most ridiculous thing I've encountered on this forum yet.

If I were worried about a heart attack I would spend my energy getting my BP down (probably by eliminating carbs from my diet) *LONG* before I ever worried about door locks.

There are a bunch of weirdos out there. I'd prefer my locks stay locked while driving. You can always hit the power lock to unlock to doors after they autolock. They will remain unlocked.

I have not had much of an issue with autolock since I trained my self not to manually lock the driver's door when I open it, and paying attetion to my index finger on the door latch, locking all the doors. I think the doors should autolock when you get in the car and put it in gear. The rum-dumbs around here that would open the door for a car jacking, or to steal my purse, can't run 12 mph. So lock the door when I start to move and then unlock the doors at 16 mph. Any of them that can run that fast will meet my 380 up close. 😆😆😆

YES, a MODERN vehicles' structural integrity is dependent on the doors, being Closed..
The Interlocking of the structures, and the air gap in between.
Prolongs the event (Crash) which helps to dissipate the kinetic Energy...

Jerry

Also.. My understanding, years ago of "Auto-lock".
Was to keep the "Kiddies" from falling of the car...

Was about say no kiddie lock now on the Mav's, but made me look in the manual - ahhhh.
So there's another reason for the fob key on keyless entry.
