Well, it's AN answer, anyway. I'm betting there have been one or two underbody spares that have been maintained clean and rust-free without the use of Fluid Film.

Assuming you mean just the spare and not the whole truck, that is a sure fire way to need it when you're not at home....thanks to Murphy's lawLeave it in the garage.
This is what happened on many of my rides, the spare was a temporary spare 'coz it got chucked as soon as I found a full size rim.The trick I have used for years is I just clean them off once in awhile and once the rust has started I go to the junkyard and buy a matching rim to the wheels on the ground. Then head over to tire store after I pickup if up a OEM tire pressure sensor. Buy a matching tire to what I have
