Now that it is getting colder out, I see that every time I start my truck, the Heated Mirrors are enabled. Is there a way to disable them from automatically coming on at every start? I looked in the manual and can't find anything. It is just useless to have them on when not needed.

When picking up mine, I remote started with the key fob and as I recall mirrors, steering wheel, and heat all activated on the remote start.

Starting via the button only turns on the mirrors, and I don't see an option to control what does and doesn't turn on when cold. Probably a 'safety' feature, since there's limited view out the back with the small window and no rear defroster option from the factory.

Maybe Forscan can add the option into the menu? - Haven't yet played with Forscan, but odds favor there's a setting. Been meaning to add TSR & Remote Window Up/Down anyway, so maybe this weekend.

Probably cannot add a menu option in Forscan, but probably CAN disable the item that turns them on every start with it.

Heated steering wheel does not turn on when truck starts. But when below a certain temp the mirrors and wiper deicer do.

Maybe I'll try it the next cold morning and see what turns one. For some reason I thought the seats & climate control did along with the steering wheel, but that was back in April, and the memory is a bit fuzzy. - I'm pretty sure the seats did, as I seem to recall they were warm when we hopped in, but not sure if the wheel did or not, but thought it might have also turned on. (I could very well be wrong, just been too long, and it was the only time I used the remote start).

It wasn't until this past week I learned the engine will immediately start if its cold enough outside, when you power up the truck. Bugger caught me off guard yesterday, and I was prepared for it today.

Coming home from work doesn't hasn't been turning the mirrors on, as the temps are 50+ and the truck sits in the sun while I'm at work.

I also have heated seats/steering wheel and I've noticed that if those 2 items are on when I shut the truck off, they turn on automatically when I start it up again. If they are off, they don't turn on automatically. Wish that was the same for the heated mirrors. They are always on now when I turn on the truck. Would love to figure out a way to turn that auto on function off.

I think that if your using the Ford Pass app to start it you could just set it to Last Setting, just remember to leave it at the settings you want when you shut the truck off.

Is yours a Hybrid or EcoBoost?

It's not called out in the manual but it is a "feature" Ford has used for over a decade to accelerate engine warm-up via added load in the cold. Notably, the light does not turn on. Here's a reference from 2012 Focus. Note that the heated mirrors are on the same circuit as the rear defroster, although Maverick doesn't offer a rear defrost.

It's an ecoboost. I disagree with your statement. First. I have a 22 Lincoln Corsair which doesn't activate the heated mirrors automatically. Second, the light is lit on the button.

I never used the remote start since it's garaged.

Guess you didn't comprehend my question. I know where the button is. I want to know how to disable the mirrors from heating automatically.
You’re correct I did not comprehend the reason for the question. But more so my mirror heaters do not come on unless I press the button. So why do yours come on automatically with the key? My steering wheel heater works like that if I turn it on then off at the button then turn the key off do the heaters come on by themselves the next time you turn the key on?

Hard to know what the truck is thinking, it's cozy in its climate controlled garage the power company duns us for generating too much Solar PV so Wifey and I air condition every enclosed insulated spaces including the garage.

Depending on settings you can have the heated mirror, steering wheel and climate controls come on with remote start (at least with the key fob remote start, I don't use Fordpass). I assume that is what is happening to the OP. By default these all turn on with remote start depending on temperature and humidity. The settings are changeable in the remote start start settings in the driver control panel.

There are also settings to keep things as you left them the next time you start the vehicle.
