How did you first hear about the Ford Maverick?

Seen a few on the road. Plus wife’s sister looking for small truck couple years ago, mentioned Maverick. I checked into them then.

She couldn’t find one, but got lucky, got a Santa Cruz Instead. When she heard I got this XLT, she commented its was what I really wanted.

Watching the review of the 2022 Ford Maverick on Motor Week about 2 years ago. They raved about the versatility of the truck and awarded the Maverick as best new pick up truck for it's class, for the year. I was impressed with the mpg with the hybrid which sold me on the truck,, howeverI did not want to buy the first generation or year it came out which is an old practice I have always followed since the 1970s'.

I had a Ford Escape and a Toyota Tacoma. I wanted a single vehicle. Enter the Ford Maverick which is basically an Escape with a bed. Waiting to see what comes up in the next 5 years or so in the same category from other manufacturers.

My son and I were having our usual conversation where he berates me for working on the 1981 VW pickup to keep it running. He asked why I do that. Why not sell it and get something better?

I said I would but there were no pickups that I knew of that got around 38 MPG in town and let me haul about 1000 lbs of materials. He said I should check into the Ford Maverick Hybrid. So I did and when the order window opened in 2022 I was right there with my list of options and the salesman was taken aback. He said I knew more about the truck than he did.

Turns out he ordered one for his daughter as she was looking for something truck-like but also a good mpg getter.

A friend of my daughter mentioned that she wanted the new hybrid truck. I looked into it and didn’t do anything about it because it seemed impossible to get one. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago when the transmission started going out on my Acadia. I wanted something smaller and was looking at cars when I lucked upon a 23 XL on its way to a local dealer. I put down a deposit and got it a week later!

I was on facebook Ecosport forum. At first i heard 30K and up so ignored it .Then saw comment starts at 22K,. Then found this forum. By then to late for 22 order. Then ordered a 23 hybrid and got it August. I got the Ecosport super cheap new. Under 17k loaded with options there was a 5k rebate. . Then sold for more than I paid with tax when Mav came in. Never intended to keep ecosport.

Way back in June of 2022 Gabrielle Union introduced the Ford Maverick in a video A garage door opened and she was sitting in a Area 51 XLT
2 weeks later the truck was available to order on the Ford web site
My local dealer called me and just had to confirm that I was 18 years of age I texted him a picture of my license never even went into the dealership(Ted Russel Ford Knoxville Tn.) 11 months later I received my 2022 Hybrid carbonized gray Lariat with lux package and sunroof
31,855-pricing was much better then as well as financing thru Ford motor credit 0% for 36 months
0.9% 4 years and 1.9 percent for 5 years
Which they honored from July of 22
when l placed the order on my phone
I had a Ford Xplan pin friends and family discount which would have had me out the door for 30 grand and change….but no dealer in East Tennessee would accept it

Back in late 2021, i was looking at smaller hybrid SUVs like Escape size. Actually drove several different brands but did not find anything i liked in stock or could afford - probably because manufacturers were coming out of pandemic and all those parts shortages.

my wife mentioned she saw something about Ford reviving the Maverick name in a small hybrid pickup and i was very interested. Started investigaging, saw at auto show and i was hooked. Now where to get one?

i started inquiring at local dealers who laughed at me… order banks had been closed for some time at that point and demand was through the roof. One dealer told me it would take an act of god to get one.

so i started calling dealers to see if perchance they had one that someone else ordered but ended up not taking. probably contacted over 100 dealers, mostly east of Mississippi. Figured if i found one i could fly there and drive it back..

on a Monday in late June (2022) visited a local dealer, pushed my story about looking for one, etc. Got same answer, wait for 2023 order banks to open or, slight chance, someone who ordered one did not take it And they would call me. 3 days later, that dealer called me, had the exact model with add ons i wanted and i put down my deposit. Picked it up one week after my first conversation with them.

Overall took about 6 months after i heard of this super vehicle to get it, and I’m very happy i did.

Back in 2022 I was looking at buying a Tesla Truck and was browsing the web when a pop up came up saying
"Have you checked out the new Ford Maverick? It's all about the bed".
That got my attention so I read the article on the little bed that could. I was so impressed with the small bed design and all that it could do, I looked at the rest of the truck and was immediately sold.

Found out about it when the dealership didn't know what a ranger was, but showed me the maverick and a new escape. Haha

I read a article online. I think I heard a radio commercial too. I currently owned a 2019 Kia Niro Hybrid. It was getting 52 mpg but was not rated to tow. I saw the Maverick Hybrid could tow 2,000 lbs. and haul 1,500 lbs. I said I want one. Sold my Kia to a local dealer with just a little over 12,000 miles on it in 2021. I put that into a cd since it was to late to buy a 22 Maverick. I test drove a 22 awd ecoboost and liked it. Ordered my 23 HPR XLT hybrid with lux. package. It was the first Saturday after the order banks opened. Picked it up over a year later October 19 2023. AWD hybrid 4k in my future? Keep thinking about it. Definetly would miss my HPR that I have customized to make it unique. If only they would of brought back that color.
