Horn doesn’t work in center (pics/vid inside)

I posted a while back and wanted to make an update as my previous post was partially wrong. I notice when pushing in the center of the wheel, the horn doesn’t activate.

Here’s a quick video that shows by gently pushing all around the horn it works, but when pushing in the center near the Ford logo it doesn’t.



Is this normal or not?

My money is on "it was designed that way". I tried my other vehicles and the horn doesn't sound when I push the center, only at the side or bottom. Older pre-airbag cars used to sound by pushing the center. Or the chrome ring [50's] . If you think about it, with your hands in the 10 and 2 position, reaching either thumb out to push on the side makes sense. I can't envision a situation where my hands would be in such a position as to make me push the top of the pad.

Because it was a safety hazard for one-legged people having to take foot off the gas pedal to dim lights.

Actually, I think the beam changing works automatically. Even us with no brains are protected.

I think one reason might be that the switch would freeze in the winter time because of snow melting into the switch and then freezing. Only applies in areas in which get a lot of snow. Also salt would exasperate the sticking situation.
