This happened twice recently; stopped truck, put in park, passenger opened their door, then the horn blew twice. I think there was a message on the dash, but it went away before I could read it.
What is this telling me??

Is it possible that your passenger started opening their door before the truck was shifted fully into park?

I say that because occasionally I'll be in a hurry and end up being a little to quick to open the door while selecting park and I'll get reprimanded by the truck. 😆

No, it was in park first. When the horn blew I looked down to see it was in park.

That sounds like a classic case of your Maverick having a bit of a "security system tantrum." It’s annoying, but you aren't alone—this is a relatively common quirk with modern Ford security logic.

If the passenger pulls the handle while the door is still technically "armed" (even if the lock physically popped up), the perimeter alarm triggers.

If your fob battery is low or if you are standing too far away on the driver's side while someone else opens the passenger door, the truck might view it as an unauthorized entry.

I've had that happen too, when I'm going to get out to open a gate, put the car in park and the car is still "on" - I've got the hybrid, so the engine isn't typically running.

It's likely a timing issue, that the truck may be still engaging park while you open the door.

Try waiting two seconds before you open the door and I doubt you will ever hear the horn do that, as the car is "telling" you that you are exiting the vehicle but it isn't prevented from moving... yet.

Setting the parking brake may also prevent the horn, but I'm in conjecture land on that.

Wondering if that is part of the latest recall (25C69)

That recall is for the 25 and 26 Mavericks, and the OP has a MY24... Not likely applicable..

I've had this happen a couple times on my 24. Accidentally, I noticed yesterday that when i parked, shut the truck off, grabbed the door handle, that I had hit the lock button on the door while opening the handle. It beeped 2wice. Replicated this a few more times, for science of course.

Interesting... There has been a lot of discussion about the Mavericks "automagically" loking the driver door, and the consensus seems to be that it's due to accidently pressing the lock tab by the door handle, but I don't recall anyone mentioning that.
I'll have to see if that occurs on the MY 25...

Key still in ignition?
Or keyless entry?

It is harder to hit that lock button that far forward - but that for sure gives a double-honk and should unlock all doors actually - if truck sees key in ignition or fob in cabin.

So you are suggesting the OP's wife may have hit her lock button on passenger exit in same scenario?

Not tried that one actually - seems like if truck senses driver still in seat with weight sensor engaged, and driver's door didn't open - who cares if passenger gets out and locks all button.

Good easy test though.

I'll apologize in advance for those who are unable to view the video.
I replicated "MudDuck"s scenario,
from the passenger side.
No one in drivers seat?

Video only gave me audio - usually I get video with the shorter ones - strange.

Makes sense if no driver in seat - don't let passenger accidentally lock all either.

Engine is off doors are unlocked.
First video you can see me turn the ignition off.

I made the previous video
According to the title of this thread Horn Blows When Passenger Door Opens.
Then I got questions about what about the driver seat well there's only one of me to do the video.
So I reshot it from the driver's seat and deleted post #13 video.
Mike, thanks for the info. I just made and dropped a new video using a different phone. Post #13 deleted.
In this one I'm in the driver seat. Because I have a keyed ignition I cannot test the push to start.
With mine the key must be in the ignition for the horn to alert.

There's also this video showing how easy it is to, accidentally push the lock button when pushing open the passenger door.
