Hood will not unlock.

As Donald said, I had SWMBO pull the handle to the second pull while I held the hook partly closed. The second latch opened, the hood was raised, and the struts removed.

Operational check with struts removed, hood operates as designed. THANKS to everyone who offered help!!

My truck was inconsistent - and then I installed the two hood struts. Now the hood won't open. If I can figure out how to get it open, I will disconnect both struts and check. I like the struts (not the hold open rod) but if that is causing the issue, i'll take the struts off.

i also added the struts. they pull down slightly so the latch might not fully release. have someone lift on the hood when you pull the release. should not take much.

As I understand it, here’s the issue
Without struts:
You pull once, the hood pops up a little, you pull the 2nd time and it pops the 2nd catch loose.
With struts:
After the first pull on the lever, the struts are pushing the hood up enough so that the second pull doesn’t disengage the catch.
I hope that was clear enough to make sense.?.?

Fyi- after I installed a set of hood struts I adjusted the hood bumpers on each end. It put a little extra tension on the hood but kept it plum with the gaps and still level body surfaces. No issue opening my hood. And in fact after reading about the hood spring post- I may go ahead and get one of those to install. I like the hood struts personally- great to not have a prop rod in the way.

Had the same problem because Ford left off a hood spring to save money. This $9 spring cured the problem:

Do you have a picture of how you installed this spring. I have been thinking about doing this. This is how some of my older cars used to raise the hood after the first hood release so
you could reach the final latch. (Posted this before your last post)

Mine just did it after readjusting hood after struct install. Didn't have anyone to hold hood down while pulling release lever so I pulled the lever completely back and put a piece of wood under it to keep open. Then went to the hood and pressed down slightly then pulled up. It opened. Adjusted the hood stops slightly to see if that helps.
Going to ask the service department Monday how they open the hood if it stops like that and pulling the lever doesn't work.

According to the Owners' Manual, to release the hood, pull the lever, allow it to completely retract, hen pull again. On my recently acquired '23 Lariat, the hood unlocks on the first handle pull, but nothing happens on the second pull. Hood pops open, but does not release. Any suggestions?

The cable can detach from the back and just has to be reseated in the release handle. It can happen if you used the hood struts.

To those who have removed the struts due to hood opening issues, which brand of hood struts did you have?

I have had the Redline Tuning struts for nearly 3 years now with no issues whatsoever.
