Did you try pressing the buttons to see what they would do? A message is displayed on the IPC letting you know what is happening when you press them.
I do recall there being a graphic near the front of manual - that gave the page numbers the items are discussed on. I went thru it and for faster searching marked out the sections that didn't apply to my vehicle, so no time wasted on what didn't matter.
they could easily put the manual online and then the user plunk their model and/or VIN in it and have a customized manual that only shows features and options and functionality without all of those worthless 'if equipped' cavaets. Really - it wouldn't be that difficult.
well I meant then can have both - the online one where you get a customized version that only has items that applies to your vehicle, and the paper one with all the cavaets - it'd be tough to produce various paper manuals that would be just specific to your exact vehicle.
But then I couldn't see all those features I didn't get and might have. I always like to know more about them.
I agree, it is the worst owners manual I have dealt with. Glad I’m not the only one being frustrated with it.New 2024 XL owner here. I'm finding the owner's manual difficult to navigate. What is the left button on the console? Middle button? Sorry to ask stupid questions.
better to read that up front before buying :} By the time you figure out what option package you had to get in order to get those features it would be time for the next model year. They could still put out a default online manual that lists out everything you can possibly get.

I totally agree. A custom PDF would be ideal, but there are cheaper ways to squeak by. The 1-manual fits all is a cost-saving feature for Ford, but it's often difficult to tell whether any given feature "if equipped" applies to your vehicle as-built. Even now, Ford could retroactively generate a 1-page build sheet listing all the optional equipment in the manual and whether each one applies to your particular vehicle. Oh please, Ford, heed our pleas!
