Leaving my Mav for a couple weeks and I bought a Battery Tender so as to hopefully avoid my Maverick going into a deep sleep. I often get the "remote feature disabled to conserve battery" message.

My question is this: my battery tender has a setting for LITHIUM (LiFePO4) or AGM/Standard. Which battery type does the Mac have? I'm assuming Standard?

Also there's an option for 6V/12V. I imagine 12V.

And finally, do I just connect it under the hood where the jump points are?

Thanks for your help, clearly I'm not a mechanic guy but trying to learn.

It's Standard 12 volt, so AGM/Standard, 12V on the Battery Tender.
Jump posts work for charging.

I have a battery tender attached so that it goes thru the BMS to the battery. It charges at approximately 13.5 volts. I don't drive my Maverick very much and I get a deep sleep notification every 14 days even though my battery level is fine. I have a BM2 bluetooth battery monitor directly attached to the battery terminals so I can read the voltage via a smartphone app. I guess the 14 day period is some sort of default timeout and the Maverick feels neglected.

Not a LiPO battery. Select Standard, as others mentioned.

I connect mine to the jump posts under the hood, although some in this forum disagree. If you do; after charging, you should reset the Battery Monitoring System (BMS).

If the battery warning lamp doesn't flash 3 times to confirm BMS reset, immediately repeat the steps, then wait a few seconds.

...
I believe that as long as you use the jump points under the hood to connect the charger (as I do mine), you are "downstream" of the BMS sensors that sit on the battery. Thus the BMS is able to track what is happening. Attaching directly to the Battery Terminals is "Upstream" of the BMS, so the truck cannot know the correct battery level at all times. No need to reset if you use the jump points.

I use a Victron SmartShunt (similar to the Ford module) in my Transit RV. The sensor tracks all the current that passes through it, both input and output to/from the battery. So as long as ALL activity goes through it, it is kept up to date. It is my belief that the Ford behaves similarly.

I put mine on charge twice a month at the jump posts and watch the voltage trends with the BM2 monitor.
I've only reset the BMS when I put in the AGM battery in place of the OEM battery.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. I may stop doing the BMS reset after I periodically put mine on the battery tender.

I usually leave the tender on the riding mower battery. It's made a huge difference in the lifetime of those batteries - enough to pay for the cost of the battery tender.

I know next to nothing about battery tenders. But I was going to be out of town for 6 weeks so I bought one. I connected to the battery under the back seat. Just got home and the Mav started rigjt up! I ALMOST backed out of the garage without removing the battery tender! ALMOST.

(y) This has been my experience also, with my motorcycles, snowmobiles, even my mom's Subaru. She rarely drives it so I keep it on a tender 24/7. Always pops right off when she does need it. Been doing that for a couple years now.

Have BT Jrs on two cars, Yamaha 400 and a Slingshot. Continuously. They will extend battery life by 2 to 4 times normal.

I saw this post showing the negative cable clipped on the other side of the sensor. I believe this is how you are supposed to connect it. Maybe someone can confirm this.

Redline, that's my understanding and how I have mine hooked up. That way the sensor can still keep track of any current passing into the battery while hooked to a trickle charger or battery tender.

That is correct! I keep getting booed here about this. But I went one step better. My trickle charger ground cable isn't connected to the battery. I connected it to a ground underneath the seat.

I made a 6-pin plug to just stick into the 6-pin towing socket. Consists of a +12V wire and a ground. It is the easiest connection, when you have the truck set up to tow. I used one of the closer ground positions on the front "frame" near the 12V jump point.
