Anyone know if the temp setting that activates the heated mirrors is adjustable via Forscan? Seems silly to have that feature come on when the outside temp is nearly 50F.

I don't think it comes on automatically. There is a button you push to activate it.

Yes, it's normal to do that. Lot of discussions about it if you search. It is approx 50F that triggers it, but the temp can be wrong if you're parked in the sun. For example it could be a very cold but sunny day, and you won't get the heated mirrors.

Yes, there are settings in Forscan. AFAIK they just relate to whether the vehicle has a heated windshield, heated mirrors, etc. I have not seen any setting for changing the temp set point.

Same thing happens in my truck. Either ignore or reach down and push the button to turn off the mirrors. BTW the heated windshield, rear glass and side mirrors are all linked. The button just shows mirrors but it's all there. So if you have ice on the glass but not side mirrors, don't turn it off.

It seems like when I start the truck, and the ambient temp is less than 50F, they automatically come on.

HRG
yep. doesn't matter how you start it, they'll be on. if you remote start they might be on before you push the start button in the truck, but I've never looked to see if they are actually melting ice.

I don't know why we stress about the heated mirrors. It costs nothing, NOTHING, to run the heated mirrors. No energy, no MPG, no effort, no Nothing! Relax. Maybe on some chilly morning they might make your life easier, and if they break and never work again you get your wish. All win, no lose.

No stress, it's just that I spent 45+ years in industry that uses heating elements, and question is not IF they'll fail, but WHEN. I'd just like to minimize their use, and hopefully extend their longevity, past the warranty period.

XLT with LUX

100% manually operated as far as I can tell. 🤷🏻‍♂️

No energy used. The heat is FREE. Next, Ford will invent perpetual motion.
If it only takes .0001 of a watt a year, that is still energy. Nothing for nothing.

I have been driving my Lariat Lux AWD for 2 years. I can confirm they only come on when the temperature is 50 degrees or less. I just turn them off manually unless I truly need them (which is only 1 time...I have a heated garage).

Nothing ? Really, can be very little but cannot be nothing! There are no magic heating elements.
