Can someone with ForScan and the heated steering wheel let me know if you have access to these values? If so, have you had any success modifying them? My heated steering wheel times out after like 10min, despite the light being on. It would be nice to know if it could be changed.

I would like to be able to adjust the temp as my wheel gets too hot to handle towards the end of the cycle. I would change it if I knew how. I have a cable and Forscan.

Has anyone tried getting onto the FORSCAN forum to ask this question?

There are temp settings in forscan that you can change. Not sure about the time. I think the wheel heats in cycles; heats up and then goes to a cooling period once a threshold temp is reached.

Welp, I got into the right place and lowered the temp on the steering wheel. I now can feel it get warm but does not get hot before going off. I think I set it to below 30 degrees C.

I made a lot more changes and logged them all so If I need to do it all again when they flash me back to the OEM settings I can do it. I think I will save all the mods and have a back up at hand as well.

FORSCAN is a little bit of a learn but once you do it a few times it is like any other process computerwise. Save your work!

Yea I know it's a thing on every vehicle with this but the Maverick has the most obvious fluctuations out of any vehicle I've ever owned. They need to lower the thresholds so it retains heat without having to shut entirely off longer. In the PC world it's called thermal throttling. It shouldn't happen.

Has anyone increased temperature? I personally wouldn't mind it hotter.

There's another thread to detail how to do it but I'd like to know if anyone has been pleased with it after making adjustments.

That said... now that you mention it, when I turn the water too hot in the shower and then lower it to my usual setting it is too cold because my body has already adjusted to the increased temperature. Maybe lower is better provided it doesn't switch off to cool down.

Can anyone verify that is what is occuring? Thermal throttling? I assumed the temperature was set too low by default so it would switch off once it got over x value (for safety and lifespan of heater). But if lowering the value prevents it from reaches it's high threshold and switching off (super irritating once my hands are adjusted to the temp) I'd be happy to decrease it.

I forget what Ford sets the threshold at to automatically enable heated seats and wheel when the vehicle is auto-started... but I had a cooler evening last month where I got in late one night after work and they were on. Turned them off immediately of course but it made me happy to know that function exists.

I originally wanted to make the wheel hotter, but in reality I think I just want it to stop throttling intermittently and just stay "on" if possible.

Can anyone confirm that lowering the temperature in Forscan will actually prevent it from throttling? I would love to stop this from happening. To me it feels like the hot water running out in the shower and it makes me sad when it happens.

I'm perfectly happy with how hot it gets, but honestly don't think I'd notice if it were a little cooler and didn't cycle like that. Any amount of heat beats grabbing the cold wheel on a frigid February day.
