I have not taken my Velocity Blue Hybrid Mav to my dealer yet for the airbag recall. They told me that the headliner needs to be removed and reinstalled. I am worried that it will not be the same and there will be issues. Has anyone experienced issues with their headliner replacement or other issues after this airbag recall?
No problem with mine when I got recall done.Looks great.

Pointing out the things to be cautious about is not implying the techs are unprofessional.

These are relatively new vehicles in the Ford lineup and using less expensive materials than other Fords. Techs should be made aware beforehand about problems that other techs across the country have experienced during a given procedure. If Ford is not disseminating this information, then the customer is the last line of defense.

The customer can politely point out the problems that other customers are regularly experiencing and ask the techs to be extra careful because these Mavericks are a bit flimsier and apparently the headliners are like sponges and will hold on to and show every fingerprint.

If I was a tech I would appreciate the heads up. Better to know going in what to look out for and avoid, than to have an unhappy customer with a come back service call or spending hours or days chasing down a trouble code for what turns out to be a damaged wiring problem because you stepped on the harness.
Speaking from experience, comments of the sort you suggest are not likely to be taken as anything but implying lack of confidence in the ability of the tech. A competent tech does not NEED a heads up, especially from someone who is not familiar with doing the task at hand. They KNOW they will do it right the second time if they mess up the first and need no one looking over their shoulder or suggesting how they do their job from the peanut gallery. My opinion, and I am firm in that belief. I shut my ears with disbelief when I have to converse with someone voicing their ignorance instead of keeping me in suspense. You of course can suggest as you wish, but I will not. I respect the worker and their ability, and do not question their capability prior to them doing the job.

Can't say I blame you, considering you're from East Tennessee. You might end up at the same dealership that did this:

Dropped off my XLT on 5/2 at 10:00 AM, they called at 3:00 and said the tech couldn't get it done in a day. Called at 10:00 on 5/3 and said it was ready. As I was driving home I noticed the rear headliner looked lower (it was touching my rear cam) got home and saw that the entire back was not tucked in. It was hanging all the way across. I called the dealer and they apologized and told me to bring it in and they would take care of it. Received a second call from the service writer who said the tech told her that it was installed correctly and that it doesn't "tuck in". I call BS on that. I'll take it back tomorrow and see what kind of battle I'll be in. Not happy.

Sounds like you had a "competent tech" who "doesn't need a heads up".

And as we have heard from master tech boot lickers here, they will surely do a fine job the second time. They do it right because they do it twice 😂

Anyhow, good luck - sounds like you'll need it.

Take photos of your truck before you drop it off. That is your best defense. Especially in the area of what Red Ryder posted. That is not acceptable at all.

So to show respect for technicians is now 'bootlicking.' If you say so.

I think being condescending to someone about to do work on my car, is an indication they think techs do not know what they are doing, is a lot closer to bootlicking than having the expectation of quality work. Obviously we disagree.
If you kissed my arse by telling me how to do my job by 'politely' educating me, I certainly would do all I could to give you an experience in workmanship.

Here’s a question:
Did ALL of the people that have issues with the headliner, rattles, grease marks, scratches, broken clips and fingerprints have a professional tech that would get offended with a heads up??
I’ll refuse to have it done. If it becomes an issue at sale time, the buyer/dealer can have it done, or not buy it.
NOOOO way I’m having it done!

You must have good health insurance.

I do not understand. Tongue in cheek, I was indicating that if someone who did not do 'stuff' for a living was trying to give me instruction, they might find other 'stuff' left behind, kind of like a treasure hunt.
As someone who has pride of workmanship, it is insulting to be told how to do my job. It indicates to me, perhaps the only person in the world that feels that way, they they do not trust me, do not trust that I know what I am doing, and do not trust that I will do the job WITHOUT their sticking their ignorant noses into the job at hand.
As a professional, having someone look over my shoulder, asking 'is it done yet?', or "why did you insert the frammis before bolting in the durvo?" when they could not tell the difference between the two disrespects my level of knowledge and experience, and my dedication to doing it right.
Do you want someone telling you how to do your job when they have never done it before?

Perhaps all techs these days have no pride, wil accept instructions, warnings, comments, home-made sammiches, whatever from people walking in off the street, but feel I know how to do the jobs I undertake, and actually resent ignoramus telling what and how to do my job.
Please explain how someone who does not do this 'stuff' for a living can know how to do the job better than the person who is being paid to do it? I personally have zero faith that they would know which end of a torque wrench to look at or adjust. I just don't see it the same way.
Give instructions and caveats as you wish, but if I were being instructed by the supposed customer, I would definitely feel the customer has zero confidence in my knowledge, ability., and internal drive to do a good job.
I would be insulted.

Also tongue in cheek-
What I meant was if the wrong person thought that someone maliciously ruined their new vehicle in some way, the offended and skilled person that did that, might need to make a claim on the hospitalization portion of their insurance.
Of course that would depend on which ignoramus owned the vehicle.
Understand now? 😉

Dropped off my XLT first thing yesterday morning. Just picked it up today. I’m lucky to get it back in less than 2 days, but it came at a price: scratches on plastic parts, trim not sitting flush like it used to and a spider crack on the interior of the windshield. It’s safe to say your Maverick will never be the same if you take it in for the airbag recall.

You should go back to the dealer and demand that they fix their amateur work that you've paid for.

I could not agree more. This should not even be open to discussion
