I saw this and thought, why buy a Maverick if you hate a truck bed? LOL. Never looked there before I sold mine. Maybe I'll look when my 25 arrives.

The rear seat in my old 60's Beetle folded down flat and it would have been nice if the Maverick did. Ford probably didn't want to have the liability of all the wires etc. exposed in this era of litigation. Someone would have the seats down and do some damage, then sue Ford for not hardening that area. If you can't sell hot coffee you sure as hell can't have exposed wires!

The Hybrid has the same design seatback area as the EcoBoost. If you want to store things in the cab, get a cover and put them on the back seat, not behind it. I got the IsoFix one off Amazon and it works really well. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0CDCNBCYG
The idea is out of sight storage, not to take up occupant seating, 😔

I had these bags that hung behind the rear seat in my Bronco Sport. Now two are hanging behind the rear seat of my Maverick. They only carry soft items

Maybe unrealistic but I bought a truck with a few extra's, Hybrd, LARIAT, co-pilot pretty much everything. So I would think that a seat that folds down is usable folded down. It would have cost Ford under 5 bucks to cover the area. Responsible owners will look for solutions but reality, leaving it the way they did is a liability issue for Ford. I think I understand the point your making but how this vehicle is presented, sold and purchased it is not comparable to a 60's bug. I am trying to find a workable solution so I can take 100 lb dogs to the vet. Yes they are big both are about 5"10 when their on their hind legs. It's truck. I am just trying to protect the vehicle and use the space it already has.

These are great! Any chance you have a source or link for these bags?

If a relatively flat sheet of plastic will work you can purchase at big box store making a template and cutting to fit. May have to glue spacers to back side in places as well as Install in more than one piece.

I hear ya. Ford likes to tout the flex bed, but they really missed the boat when they didn't go for the flex interior. Making the rear seat fold flat and maybe putting a few tie downs on the back side of the seat and wall would have been awesome!
PS, we got a pup that is going to be nearly as big as your dogs - she's riding in the wife's Buru!

It is Lariat trim I didn't know if a moving blanket would work. Looks like a speaker and with all of the stuff there I figured there was a reason there wasn't something there to protect the area. better. But why have it fold down if you can't use the area? I might look more at taking the seat out and how much of a b*tch that would be in and out.
That is the B & O subwoofer that comes standard in the Lariat with the luxury package.

Well its official.
There will never be a satisfied Maverick owner.
I can’t stand the color of the orange electrical wires under the hood. I wish they were purple.
Bob
I have a roll of purple friction tape I can mail to you. Just spend 8-10 hours rewrapping the wiring.

I got a pad intended for dogs. The seatback remains in the normal position. The pad forms a "U" shape and attaches to both front and rear headrests. [I removed the rear center headrest to improve visibility]

The "U shape means things don't fall in any cracks. I put tools on the pad and so far have not damaged the pleather [ActiveX] upholstery. This set up allows me to stow things in the rear seat footwell, the area behind the front seats. Check Amazon and WeathTech for similar items.
Same. I bought the back seat "dog pad" sling that I plan to use for groceries and stuff. No dog here. I currently drive a jeep compass and back seats fold flat- I keep the seats down 24/7 for a large cargo area. Going from a SUV to truck, I knew I would want that same convenience and vibe. Waiting on my Mav now, but I went ahead and got a nice truffle color pleather dog bed to match the interior

Same here. I use it when I have to take my Dal girl to the vet or grooming place. Makes plenty of room for her to stand up or lay down. I removed the center headrest too.
