Aluminum amp looking thing behind rear seat

Hello! Two weeks into my Maverick Hybrid XLT ownership and I’m mostly enjoying it a lot so far. Was putting in a couple car seats and noticed this odd looking metal box behind the rear seat.

I did see another post that mentioned a box for the towing setup (I have the luxury package), but the image and description were very different from what I’m seeing. Any ideas what this is?
