My dealership did the same. It is simply a way to ward off flippers, which is why those of us who want to buy it to run its wheels off can't get one.

It may not be enforceable, but they can certainly blacklist you going forward. They don't have to sell you anything in the future and a lot of dealerships are in dealership groups. You run the risk of being blacklisted by all of them.

As for income loss, talk to the dealership. Most are not uncaring.

I am glad you had an exceptional experience. But I stand by my comment that doing this just reeks of stealership behavior. Why on earth do they care what one does with a vehicle that they sold them. Not all Granger customers have been happy with them. Hopefully your experience isn't the exception, but the rule. Greed: I don't want you to sell the vehicle we sold you and make the money we could have made.
Really? This is just a stupid take. Can you point to the unhappy Granger customers? I remember one guy that was livid over them charging $50 for the first tank on his invoice...the one that was discounted thousands. No dealer is perfect, but for me (20ish vehicles purchased at this point in my life), Granger is the first one that I'll actively go back to at least look first on the next go-round.

No, EVERY Granger Maverick retail order was sold to the orderer for 3% or 4% below invoice or $3000 under MSRP depending on the offer they ordered through.
They also don’t charge an ADM on stock units.
They’re protecting their customers by discouraging flippers from purchasing these heavily discounted trucks.

Has anyone else been asked to sign a no sales provision? What is your opinion on this? Should this have been revealed at the time ordered was place or at the time of sale?

I should add that as of right now this is only a request from finance dept. I am not sure if it is required to purchase the vehicle.

Was it not shifty for Granger to offer these vehicles $3000 under invoice in an attempt to scam Fords allocation system to get more inventory for themselves?
I would call that honest business building, vs taking 1000 reservations and marking them all up and not telling their customers until they arrive and selling the ones that refuse on the lot for a $7500 market adjustment. That is more shifty.

I think this is ridiculous! If they get a canceled order are they not going to sell over msrp? I doubt it! Same old same old dealer tactics!

That would make more sense. You can ask but don’t mean I have to or you will not sell me the truck. I get it that Granger has done many things right by many buyers. However this is unnecessary and they aren’t protecting the customer by doing this. They are protecting what they see is in their best interest. Again my opinion.

Write "under duress" and sign it.

What does it mean to sign a contract under duress?
Being pressured to sign a contract under duress, also called coercion, means you're signing it against your will. In extreme cases, a party may threaten physical violence or even death unless you sign. Psychological pressure or lies about what could happen if you don't sign may also be considered duress. One example of duress might be telling someone, "If you don't accept these terms, you'll face financial ruin."

There are several ways one person may use duress to compel another person to sign a contract, including:

  • Threat of violence.
  • Threat against personal liberty.
  • Extraordinary economic pressure.
  • Unconscionability, or bad faith, in the bargaining process or terms.
  • Misrepresentation, or fraud.
  • Nondisclosure of information that is material to the contract.
  • Terms that are impossible to satisfy.
The key to determining whether there was duress is looking at how the actions affected the alleged victim's ability to make an informed decision. This is, by its nature, a subjective assessment. Whether or not there was duress, as a legal matter, may not just depend on whether a "reasonable person" would have felt unduly pressured. It depends on the facts of the case and the specific relationship between the people involved.

Well good for you! Sorry you don’t like my stupid take, but it changes nothing. 😎

I would tell them to shove it where the sun don’t rise! Greedy ass dealerships man! Granger just another stealership!
This is probably not the correct forum if you were looking for anyone to agree with your view of Granger not being anything but a top notch organization. Which it is.

I don't care about anyone agreeing with me. I simply gave an opinion of the requirement of this form for them to sell you the vehicle you ordered. I personally don't have an issue with the form if told up front. My issue would be, if I ordered from you and you never told me about this. Then you whipped it out when I come in to pay for my Maverick. Say what you will but that is not good business practice. From what I am reading no one was told this was or would be required when they ordered. In fact some right now say it's actually not required. So who knows. Doesn't rock my world one way or the other. I just gave an opinion and some don't like it. That is okay!

If it discourages one buyer who planned to resell from doing so and they instead cancel their preorder and the dealer can sell for a few thousand $ markup... it was already worth it. Highly doubt they'd ever follow through, but it's a VERY cheap way to MAYBE get a few extra "Customer abandoned" Mavericks on their lot to sell.

Personal opinion? It's your truck. You ordered it and should be able to do what you want with it... BUT... I can also ABSOLUTELY see a good reason to side with the dealer...

Reasoning for that: Sept 15th... TONS of people ordered MULTIPLE Mavericks... or reordered a 23 after getting a 22... PLANNING to flip all but one if the resale stayed high and just cancel and leave the dealer holding the truck if it didn't. Because Ford STILL hasn't figured out a way to properly prioritize earlier orders; lots of these guys have gotten multiple trucks delivered... while guys who ordered in 2021 are STILL WAITING. We've seen people posting EXACTLY THAT right here on these forums. I have a hard time faulting a dealership for trying to stop these customers who plan to resell from profiting due to their actions which made those of us who WANTED our trucks wait longer because of their greed. You can't call dealers out on their greed and not call out customers on doing their version of the same thing.

I picked up my Tremor from Kenny Ross Ford South in Castle Shannon, PA last night 3/17/2023. Paid MSRP, no add ons and did not have to sign any, No Sale Agreement. Highly recommend this dealer.
